cant wait for IDF next week, you know they will be pushing the numbers with these new drives!
nice find, tilt!
Ha well spotted, but notice it changes to a G2 160 drive on page 23 with a new firmware number (HP). Looks like the G2 might be getting a firmware upgrade.
We need an official G3 thread, I bet these drives are going to be exciting. ;)
600gb is a LOT of storage. I'm looking forward to these as well!
I hope overall SSD prices will fall even more.
yes, and for those of us eyeing upgrades, they cant come soon enough...
Notice that the description refers to "Intel's 34nm SSDs". So the tool does not recognize that the 600GB SSD is a 25nm flash SSD and switch to a more accurate description.
Great find Tilt,
Yeah, going from todays max capacity of 160GB to 300/600GB is quite the leap.
Wondering about the prices and the performance, guess we'll know a little bit more during IDF.
This Intel G3 will hopefully have a more dramatic impact on prices, but not so much before it hits the marked.
The resent price-fall seams to be an effect of aggressive pricing on Crucial C300, specially after they intruded the 64GB with a reall low-price and doped the price om 128GB too.
I believe C300 is the case of resent price falls.
It's more likely that nand prices are coming down, but the pricing level the G3 is going to come in at must be worrying.
OCZ didn't seem to care about the competition up till now, for the most part they've been more expensive than e.g. Intel. (even during Vertex Gen 1)
I'm quite happy with the recent drops in price :)
@Ao1
I'm working on the SQLIO thread, should be able to start the thread sometime tomorrow.
 Don't forget about the momentus xt though ;) I know it won't benchmark well but I'm intrigued about how well the "adaptive memory technology" pans out.
Now i know why the prices will drop, 600gb SSD's, insane!
Would someone ban this guy? 3 posts, all the exact same thing and all nonsense.
he dropped it over at [H] and storagereview.com several times..too
maybe Dan needs friends.
Welcome Dan! SF specs are hazy at best. as in their real world performance is not getting the best reviews from some circles. as in the real user/ non-reviewer (who get free stuff) circles. take anything you see with a grain of salt :)
I see you like storage, and over at storagereview.com you have 16 posts, so maybe stick around a bit, there's a ton of storage nerds round here :)
strange..l. i have a thing for tractors and star trek as well...actually there is an episode where the two come together ifn i remember correctly..
Not only has he spammed xtreme he is also going around spamming other forums with exactly the same post.
I wonder why

I wonder who he works for
funny thing is a quick google and he is a tractor/computer/star trek enthusiast. has his own youtube page. interesting.
It looks like Intel are bringing out a new G2 120GB drive any day now.

strange.
I agree about the gap, the timing though, is indeed very strange.
120GB Postville is available since about 1.5 months in Europe (at least it's listed in several shops).
But yes, I too find it strange. I'm also asking myself how many flash chips that drive got. I mean, for optimal performance it needs 10 or 20. And I'm not aware of 12GB flash packages. For the 40GB version intel uses 5x8GB packages, for 80GB 10x8GB and for 160GB 10x16GB. Maybe it's somehow a triple-4GB-die-package? O_o
