Corsair H70 testing & results thread....

Already posted in the news thread but I think the H70 deserves its own thread here ;)

Quick and dirty open bench test 1:

Setup:

i7 980x @ 4000mhz (160x25) with 1.225 vcore.
Full load test (crunching WCG HFCC 12 threads 100% load)...
H50 and H70 both tested in push / pull with the 2 fans supplied with the H70 kit @ 1980 rpm.

Ambient temp 21 Celcius.

Max core temp after 1 hour in Coretemp 99.7 x64:

H50: 59 Celcius

H70: 52 Celcius

Improvement?

Notes:

The hoses on the H70 are shorter than the H50:

H50 hose length 29cm.
H70 hose length 21cm.

The supplied fans are noisy at 1980rpm!

TEST 2(higher vcore):

Setup:

Open bench

Full load test (crunching WCG HFCC 12 threads 100% load)...

H50 and H70 both tested @ 1980rpm push / pull with the 2 fans supplied in the H70 kit.

Ambient temp 21 Celcius.

Max core temp (hottest core) after 20 minutes in Coretemp 99.7 x64:

H50: 62 Celcius

H70: 56 Celcius

Vaguest question ever? ;)

The biggest difference between the two is the H70 rad is twice the size and the block is low profile and you get 2 1980rpm fans...

In terms of load temps then for me in my testing so far then the difference is 6-7 celcius :D

Lots of differences but the main one is a larger (thicker) rad.

So instead of a 120x1 its a 120x2 with a thicker rad profile? I was more worried about the physical difference sorry.

1950rpm noisy? Nah that ain't noisy, Try a 120mm Delta fan that's above 130cfm, Now that's Noisy. Note: 130cfm is borderline, I use a 113cfm Delta 120x25mm and It's a quiet fan.

That is why I did this quick apples to apples test ;)

Same board

Same chip

Same volts

Same TM

Same clocks

Same fans

Same fan speeds

Same ambient

It was a straight H50 vs H70 using both H70 kit fans comparison :)

I run some panaflows in push/pull on the H50 that I stole out of my dead vapochill. If I have some extra cash laying around to pick up an H70 I could do a comparison test between the two on my 1090T to show how they compare when you run the same fans from the H70 and then the higher cfm fans.

Well, given to the fact that LCLC is supposed to compete with premium aircoolers, lets see the results of the H70 vs ND14 or Venomous X. Thats where the real battle belongs. And condering the extra dough that the H70 commands, its would have to beat their best scores by a good bit on both noise and overall cooling. Otherwise the unit is rather worthless, because it cant comepete in custom water or anything else. The H50 I kinda understood. This uber chunky H70 has me at a complete loss as I just dont see what market its supposed to be in.

While I've seen some numbers thrown out from different coolers, I've yet to see a direct head to head comparison of the H70 vs premium fansinks, dual fan H50's or dual fan ECO's. Until they are all tested un the same room, under the same conditions, then its all rather meaningless. I guess time will tell as the unit get out into the wild.

Yes and an airplane makes even more noise.

Are you out of your mind calling 1950rpm fans not noisy?
Anything above 800rpm = noisy. Especially if you use more then 1 fan in your case, and as this is XS, most people will atleast have 6 fans.

And no 113cfm fan is quiet, unless your deaf and your rig is a room apart from you.

Seriously, people who say this stuff shouldnt be allowed to post at all!

My rig is in the Kitchen, So is the replacement too. And no I'm not deaf.

Noise is a subjective thing, it depends on what one gets used to.
Then again I personally don't want to accelerate hearing loss :)

But I'm even more interested in Eco C240 Vs NQ-3590 Vs 570LX

But I guess it's pointless worrying how the 570LX compares.
As one can only get it as part of complete builds from iBuyPower etc?

Although the LCLC 240mm was buyable on it's own, but this was very uncommon.
And you'd probably get zilch support from Asetek...

NQ's range has always been re-badged Asetek's....
They've previously explained that they're usually a revision or two behind.
I wonder if their NQ-3590's have migrated to the 570LX yet?

Has anyone seen any comparisons between these 3 or the H70?
