He boxed a normal condenser and submerged it in water.

How are you controlling rust and corrosion?
Since 2002 I use flowing water and while problems were not, for me iron varies faster than hoses darken. And dirty hoses not a problem, were put by simply black hose :D
I'm surprised that the water doesn't cause the condenser to rust. I dont think this wouldn end well if you were to spring a refrigerant leak into the water...
But if you have been using this submerged in water since 2002 then its evidently not an issue...
