[REVIEW] Gainward GTX 470 GS

Hello,

in First sorry for my English, but i hope you will understand me.

Today i will show you the new Gainward GTX 470 GS.

As all the GTX 470, it has a Fermi Chip, that is very hot, but Gainward, as all their Golden Sample Card, use with this VGA a particular Heatsink, and new PCB.

Good think is that the Gainward PCB support the Overvolt, so also Overclockers can have fun with this VGA.

Heat sink is very important on the new nVidia Card, because are very hot VGA. Gainward for his Golden Sample use a dual slot heatsink with two fan and 3 copper Heat Pipe. Surelly is a good solution, because can take stable the Card also with higher clock on Core and Cuda Core.

Below you can see the max frequency that i got without Overvolt:

While if I overvolt the card at 1,16V i can take stable 830 Mhz for the core frequency.

Now you can see the temperature.. i think the screen speak it self, because with the fan set at 50%, Heat Sink can take stable the core temperature at 83°C, surelly not a low value, but if we think that the reference card work at 93°C with the Fan @ 80%, we can say that this is a good result :D

Nice review mate, and your english is fine :) Only thing I'd like to see in those graphs are other cards to compare, like the 5850 at the least.

Full copper base( no HDT like reference) and 2 fans make the difference.
I don't konow why Nvidia choosed HDT, i mean it's not good for cpu's, why should have been good for gpu's....?

Why is the PCB red?

Minus the logo and the IHS, it looks almost identical to the PCB on my 5870 PCS+ :shrug:

i done the test with the Sapphire 5850 Toxic and 5870 Lightning... i think the nvidia card are not so negative as lot people said when it was been launched, yes are very hot.. but performance are good. Before to start i want say that all the test with nvidia are conducted with Antialiasing at 16X, where was possible because some bench limit this value at 8X, while with ATi i used max 8X, because the ATi' s technology don t let us the possibility to set higher value.

So the stress on the nvidia card was higher than the stress on the ATi card.

In every Benchmark the GTX 470 GS is faster than the two rivals card, awesome if you think that for nvidia i used AA @16X, while with ATI AA was setted @ 8X.

PCB is red because is a Gainward Design, and not a reference card, usually brand change the PCB colour when build a VGA with a differente Design

if you read better, in the post 9 you can see the result with other VGA (5850 Toxic and 5870 Lightning), and if you follow the link in the first post you can check the complete review, with also the result of the VGA @ different clock ;-)
