put ma 480 under water =) i tested on air stock cooler for 1 month and at fan speed %100(its needed for 2048x1536 85hz gaming)temps were ok at 60-80 range.but also keep in mind i have 4 120,s blasting it on the side of my case 2in away from card.heres the thing fan speed at %100 with gtx 470/480 sound like JET ENGINES TAKING OFF....water is now dead silent and idles 38 vs 50-60 range on air.$120 koolance block pwns.note on koolance block++the leds DONT plug in to the card,they gave a 2 pin header were a 4 is needed.....whatever,it pwns.

im %99 percent sure once u enable raid 0 in bios most mobos automatically go into ahci mode,if not enable it!!

wrong--------- it is possible NOW with intel 9.6 driver---win7 has trim feauture built in its os itself.knowing this fact its a matter if your DRIVES support trim or not(i confirmed yours DO) running raid 0 or single drive.

if anyone decides to get this drive-----2 things to note.flash the drive itself to 1.5 firmware with the ocz windows based flash tool,then grab intel ich10r 9.6 drivers,enable ahci and u should be VERY happy with this single drive.my buddy has 2 in raid....unreal 543 read :O gj so far ocz with this drive.i ultimately got my vertex 2 that i wanted with diff name on it :o

now in bios enable ahci mode,disable NCQ(native cmd cueing)this wont make or break your performance-it will make sure u boot in windows tho.also UNPLUG any usbs not needed(storage drives etc)save and exit--- fire up..should be solid if your in windows now.

Old, but still OK Win7 install, in daily use with eyecandy on, see sig for speccs.. According to BootTimer I'm a second and a bit over my best times though... BootTimer is more accurate, since it times boot to a thousand of a second btw..

dude...nice.i had my eyes on those intel E, drives while back.i know they run good if there not in a graveyard,lol.i grabbed the crucial c-300(turd)and went back,imation 60 gig bricked,but this ocz single drive is really decent. my buddy has 2 in raid 0 and he loves em....543 reads i think,,,,?i will call him.anyway nice shot man.7 seconds!!!...thats were im at on this single drive!!?!?!?.its so insane.ocz and sandforce hit a home run with this 1 i think.its basically a vertex2 pro diff stickers and diff controller?anyone sf1200- sf1500?...whatver it is its friggin fast and so is your setup bro,good stuff!

It's also very well known the marvell controller/driver is very immature and doesn't perform anything like expected, even with 6gb/s drives.

Boot time is a horrible metric for judging performance. The time you spend booting is tiny compared to the time you spend actually using the computer.

My opinion and the last parts wasn't needed, my apologies.

I guess boot time can be a decent initial clue of single drive performance. Keep in mind if you add another drive or two and do raid 0 you may get much better actual everyday computer usage performance but your boot time is going to suffer because of the raid controller initialization. At this point boot time stops being useful in my opinion. (note: I don't think it's useful ever but it's certainly not useful when adding a raid controller)


Discussions about money never go anywhere. I could have been saving pennies for years and finally splurged on a new computer. I could be 15 years old and have rich parents. Expensive doesn't mean the same thing to everyone. Read/Write speeds on SSDs are real numbers, "expensive" "cheap" "not worth it" are all subjective and not worth the argument.

One more thing I should have added in my original post: I have a raid controller (2 initializations counting 9260 and ich10r) so I wouldn't really know but 6 seconds seems very fast, congrats!

BootRacer is a usefull benchmark, but for my usage patterns it holds little value.
Here's a run on my soon to be 3 year old laptop with 2,0Ghz C2D, 2GB DDR800, GT8600M, and OCZ Vertex 30GB FW 1.30.
This installation has been in use since the fall as a student laptop + casual gaming, and has wireless, full program suite, and everything it normally does activated in the run.

The desktop actually is shown about 1 sec after the login, and i can do stuff immediately without a slowdown (FF opens in about 1 sec), but there's some stuff with postponed loading that holds up the timer from BootRacer for about 10 sec.
