Idea for water cooling ram ghetto

I bought the Corsair Dominator ram as well as the X58A-UD7 motherboard.

I have the pipe cut to the layout I'm looking for so far and here are some pictures.

so still have to solder all the pipe together then cut the copper sheet that will be attached to the ram.

the only thing that worries me at the moment is getting the holes in the copper sheet to line up exactly right with the ram.:shrug:
I don't want to cut slots like Mips did because my copper sheet isn't quite as thick as theirs and it will weaken the copper sheet to much.

anybody have measurements handy?

You know, I'm pretty sure that will actually work. Mad Props. You could go nuts, and just use copper tube instead of standard pvc or whatever tubing. :)

it is copper tubing.
and will solder it onto a copper plate. like i did for my video card shown below

That's a really cool idea.

For the measurements, you could try ... I don't know the word for it so I'll describe it:
You put a piece of thin paper over it and shade it in - The differences in surface under the paper changes the way it shades and you get a nice tracing of what's under it. You can then glue that onto your copper and drill it.

its called rubbing, they do it on grave stones and stuff.
I was hoping someone here would have it already pre measured.

Unfortunately in this configuration the middle tubes will not receive much flow. THe water will shoot around the outside and just bypass the "H" in the middle once the loop is all filled. Recommend you do an "S" style weave with a copper plate soldered underneath the tubing/on top of the ram.

however how much flow does it need?
i just want to keep the temperature down with no airflow so that it stays below 45deg. anything extra is bonus,
if it doesn't work that way, i buy some more elbows and try it your way.
i have tons of copper tubing... 25 foot roll.

i took the suggestion that yngndrw had and rubbed the holes onto a piece of paper cut to fit, taped it onto the copper plate and drilled the holes
worked like a charm.
All 18 holes lined up perfectly.:yepp:

I also soldered the tubing together it it fits good. not 100% flat but close enough.
hopefully when i solder it on it will drop into shape properly. if not I'll just use more solder to get a good connection.

no build log there though I realy messed up cutting 4 of the panels and it looks like crap.
