Hi guys! I decided switch to water cooling and first became a question of choosing a pump. Need a quiet pump, without high-frequency whistling and rustling. Consumption of 300-600 liters:confused:

An eheim 1048??
The quietest pump i know is the Eheim PCPS, but itīs not very powerfull so you better buy an Aquastream XT
http://www.aquacomputer.de/aquastream-xt.html
Laing D5 with aftermarket top. No whine at all when properly bled. And very good power...
I would recommend an Aquastream XT pump dead silent i cant hear it sometimes i need to put my ear very close to actualy hear it work.
I recommend the aquastream XT as well. Far quieter than the MCP355 it replaced in my system.
I'm in Europe and ordered directly from Aqua Computers. I don't know if that's an option for you. Sidewinder Computers used to carried them, and I see they have some Aqua Computer parts in stock. I'd ask Gary if he still carries them.
The performance is OK:
LPH: 300 - 500 Lph (2.2gpm) depending on frequency
Max. Head : 1.2 - 4.2m (13.8 ft) depending on frequency
A little better than a stock MCP350:
Nominal discharge (@ 12 V) ~ 116 GPH (440 LPH)
Nominal head (@ 12 V) 10.8 ft (3.3 m)
For the noise level I think those are pretty good numbers. The feature set is great too, especially when paired with an Aquaero.
I've used an Eheim 1260, MCP600, D4, MCP350, MCP355, D5, and now an Aquastream XT. Of all of them, the XT is without question the quietest. It all depends on how sensitive you are to noise/frequency. No offense, but when someone says their D5 is quiet, they are not sensitive to noise. The D5 puts out too high of a pitch for me. The XT isn't cheap, but it performs well and really is very quiet.
I'll agree, the XT is a very quiet pump (certainly quieter than everything else you listed)... however, I've found myself using dual D-Tek dB-1 pumps in series more often. They're cheap, easy to find (same as the DangerDen CPX-1 and about a billion other rebrandings of that little Jingway pump), two in series offers reasonable performance, low power consumption, redundancy, and they're very quiet when isolated (yay, gel).
Just another option to think about.
Does the D5 make a high pitch whine at all settings? Even the two lowest?Quote:

Settings 4 is a bit so-so.. You can hear it but it doesnt bother me that much.
I have my D5 sitting on petra's gel stuff and I'm using setting 3. Had to think between 3 and 4 for a while but ended up using 3 since 4 does add up with the noise from the fans.. But yeah it depends quite a lot of the person. I think most people say that setting 3 is quiet and I think personally that I'm quite sensitive to noise... Main reason why I started watercooling :).
edit: oh right I forgot to mention, I'm using the EK top. Never even tried with the stock top :P
Like i said, use an aftermarket top on the D5 to kill the whine, with the EK top it only makes a hum due to vibrations (which can be dampened then). Stock top is the cause of the whine, especially if not modded (there are some sharp edges inside that would need some rounding). Modding the top or getting an aftermarket one solves the whine - the D4 squeals though, due to its electronics. I am also a silence extremist. Currently in my setup the main source of noise is the whoosh from Gentle Typhoons..
Anyone know if the MCP350/355 pumps can be undervolted?
From here:

So yes, the 355 can... a little.Quote:
Operating voltage range 8 to 13.2 VDC
Minimum starting Voltage 9 VDC
Oh yay, another topic about something that's subjective. . .XS is good for about 3 of these type topics a week. :shakes:
I have already ordered http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmc12vdcpu.html. By the way, but if I put in the 2-3 rate, will there be enough power for pumping Watercool HEATKILLER Ū CPU Rev3.0 1156 LT + Feser X-Changer Triple 360 mm Extreme Performance + EK Waterblocks EK-FC5870 - Nickel Acetal???
Sorry for my bad English

Speed 3 - only add around 1-2C for your CPU in full load
i tested with D5 -> PA120.3 -> HK V3 PA120.3 -> BP EVGA Classi fullcover
Temp Ci7 950@4200HT differed 1-2С in prime load
Now i have DFI UT x58, and Ci7920@4400HT and 2 loops. For CPU: DDC3.2 with XSPC ResTop -> Airplex revolution 360/420 -> Apogee XT . I can reduce pump performance via t-ballancer and compare for you
very difficult to get them in the US. best option is to purchase from the EU or here
I live in Moscow, so I still have to buy in Europe or the U.S., because we have very little choice. By the way guys, but what about the aquarium pumps?? I just already have a positive experience with these pumps - they are very quiet (which for me is more important than a few degrees), and reliable. What about them? For example aquarium pump to 600-800 liters, how much will be the difference in temperatures such as DDC or D5??
Better find some info on Internet.:)
