The quietest pump i know is the Eheim PCPS, but itīs not very powerfull so you better buy an Aquastream XT

Laing D5 with aftermarket top. No whine at all when properly bled. And very good power...
I would recommend an Aquastream XT pump dead silent i cant hear it sometimes i need to put my ear very close to actualy hear it work.
My D5 whines like a banshee at any setting below 4, and it is/ was properly bled.Quote:

For the noise level I think those are pretty good numbers. The feature set is great too, especially when paired with an Aquaero.
I've used an Eheim 1260, MCP600, D4, MCP350, MCP355, D5, and now an Aquastream XT. Of all of them, the XT is without question the quietest. It all depends on how sensitive you are to noise/frequency. No offense, but when someone says their D5 is quiet, they are not sensitive to noise. The D5 puts out too high of a pitch for me. The XT isn't cheap, but it performs well and really is very quiet.
I'll agree, the XT is a very quiet pump (certainly quieter than everything else you listed)... however, I've found myself using dual D-Tek dB-1 pumps in series more often. They're cheap, easy to find (same as the DangerDen CPX-1 and about a billion other rebrandings of that little Jingway pump), two in series offers reasonable performance, low power consumption, redundancy, and they're very quiet when isolated (yay, gel).Quote:

Like i said, use an aftermarket top on the D5 to kill the whine, with the EK top it only makes a hum due to vibrations (which can be dampened then). Stock top is the cause of the whine, especially if not modded (there are some sharp edges inside that would need some rounding). Modding the top or getting an aftermarket one solves the whine - the D4 squeals though, due to its electronics. I am also a silence extremist. Currently in my setup the main source of noise is the whoosh from Gentle Typhoons..
Anyone know if the MCP350/355 pumps can be undervolted?

Speed 3 - only add around 1-2C for your CPU in full load
It may actually reduce temperatures as the heat dump added to the water is reduced. Try it and report back your results.Quote:
