Mysterious LGA socket

I am not allowed to take full pics of the socket itself, this is still in development phase.

What ever this socket is it seems that my LGA 1366 coolers seem to fit it "same/similar mount holes"

EDIT: Sorry but i got a PM from a person who says that this pic can land in a problem specially now when media starts getting interested on JC's shots.

Was it made for X68? :|

LGA 1567? Rumors say that it'll have 1366 mount holes, or very close. Might just be for development but who knows.

What about LGA 1155 or LGA 1356?

This is under full NDA i was told i cant take a picture of the full socket.

The socket itself seemed to be somewhat larger than the 1366 but not sure because of the empty area in the middle.
the mobo itself was impressive, simple looking but had modern features integrated. You will see these about early next year i have been told and will initially support 2 types of processors.

This is socket 1567 for Beckton chips. Chips have been floating around for quite a few months now. 8 core server stuff.

for moment, i thought intel was already making 1366 obsolete for the power user.

It will be in less than 1 year, when Intel comes out with SandyBridge (which will run on a new LGA socket).

No, it'll probably be closer to 18-24 months. We should see a new socket with a new architecture, which will be about every 2 years if Intel keeps up with Tick-Tock. The sockets might even last longer than that in a lower segment (i.e. LGA775 dropped from the extreme/enthusiast segments down into the upper mainstream and then finally into the lower mainstream).

LGA1366: Nov 08 - Jan 11 (26 months)
LGA1156: Sept 09 - Jan 11 (16 months)

i thought sandy bridge will only be for mainstream desktop and there will be something else replacing the 1366 socket in the workstation section.

Yes, there will be different segments, but it's all Sandy Bridge.

well it could atleast explain why not alot of motherboard namufacturer are launching stuff for gulftown since they know something else will be launched in what 6 month ?? for the the workstation user ( extreme overclocker extreme cruncher and extreme gamer). ALso, many 1156 user will be pissed, i mean they got 1156 socket may last year i think and 1 year later they have a new socket for the market section ??? Thats annoying. A good trick from intel would be to make those sb chip usable on 1156 socket for the mainstream chip and usable on the 1356 socket for the workstation chip.

:)yeah. intel should have been just delay. but some of us are hungry for a newly one isn't that obvious.:p:

Quad Socket Octocore Becktons!

It looks like a socket for becktons, and all that stuff in the middle is for a 4x + QPI bridge.

Can't possibly be LGA 1567 since pins run the entire surface of that socket while the OP photo shows a hollow center area like with current ones, not to mention "Beckton" boards use a different mounting mechanism:

My guess: s1366 succesor for high end desktop, single and dual socket server/workstation Sandy Bridge platform.

I think, it these pics are real, LGA 1156 could support LGA 1155 processors( i mean 1 pin less, the socket will have 1 pin free)...hope that socket 1156 to last until Ivy bridge. And socket 1155 will not support LGA 1156 processors.
Socket 1366 might be replace.
Anyway for now a 8 core processor( 20MB cache) has in my opinion no use because programs are not optimezed for something like these...
