Which SSD for me?
Hey guys
My choices are between the OCZ Agility 60GB and Vertex 60GB, the Vertex being slightly cheaper. What are the main differences between the two? Which would you recommend? Is there anything else in that price range that you'd recommend over one of the OCZs?

They use the same controller but Agility uses cheaper NAND which is usually a little slower. If you can get the Vertex for less then it is the way to go.
-
Just get Agility if it's cheaper for you, the random access speed should not be lower anyway (afaik).
-
Sorry, I got my pricing wrong, the Vertex is the more expensive by about $20 (locally they're both over $300).
-
for $20 more i would get the vertex, but if u can get the solid 2 thats the way to go. the solid 2 only comes with the 34nm micron nand were the vertex and agility now ship with that but they have a bad batch from 4 months ago that shipped in the agility and vertex and my agility died in 3 months of use (ocz dose have good support though)

That's actually the cheapest of the lot - pricing is as follows (US$1=R7.58, directly converted US$ pricing in red italics):
Solid 2 60GB R2,429 $320.45
Agility 60GB R2,631 $347.10
Vertex 60GB R2,833 $373.75
I'm not familiar AT ALL with the Solid 2 series though.
EDIT: A quick Google says that it is the slowest of the lot, even slower than the Solid 1.
-
its rated the slowest but it only has the micron 34nm nand and if u look at reviews its actually fast it just has to degrade more before u can rma it for being slow. and they have the same 4/32k speeds and thats all that really matters

the solid 2 from what I understand can outperform both the agility and vertex drives. Solid 2 specs are underated; it performs much better than spec'd. will benchmark better than agility and vertex as well from what I understand. Solid 2 best price/performance

Agility 60Gb was $169usd minus $40 rebate = $129usd couple weeks ago on Newegg. Came with 1.5 firmware. Wait for a sale.

Straight R/$ conversion I'll be overpaying by about 70% :(

i just got my 120GB agility rmad and got a new one back its supposed to have the micron 34nm. its specs are 230MB/s read 135MB/s write and 80MB/s sustained write. (the 120GB is faster than the 60GB)
and can u get it shipped in, im sure u could buy a used one cheaper if its 70% more, or ebay and get it shipped.

Why not go with the X25-M 80gb? It's cheaper, faster _and_ has more space. What's there not to like? It's not like you will miss the slightly better sequential writes of the Indilinx controller.
