Problem with Aquaero

I have a weird problem with my Aquaeros. I Have 2 Aquaeros each controlling one of my loops. When Windows boots and starts mounting USB devices the Aquaeros enter into an endless loop of mounting/un-mounting (windows makes the USB device mounting then un-mounting sound). And Aquasuite cannot access any of the Aquaeros.

However, if I boot with just one of the Aquaeros connected THEN connect the second to any internal USB port, everything works as expected and both Aquaeros are accessible normally by Aquasuite.

I have tried connecting the Aquaeros to a powered hub and it's exactly the same. I have also made a USB cable to connect the Aquaeros to 2 of the external USB connectors of the M/B and again I get the same problem.

Has anyone had that problem and knows how to fix it? Or maybe Shoggy knows a workaround?

Can you have two flow sensors running on one Aquaero? Or do I need to get the expansion?

Im not sure, but i think that you can connect another one. Although that sacrifice a fan slot :(

I think you can connect two Aquaeros via the "Aquabus" so that only one needs to be connected via USB. I've done this with my Aquastream and the Aquaero, not sure though if this works with two Aquaeros.

Flow sensors, not RPM sensors...

@Hannibal Lecter: I think you won't be able to fix that yourself. There have been always problems from time to time with ASUS boards. You can try to flash the current BIOS if not already done. Sometimes also a later BIOS will help.

Otherwise you can try a PCI controller card which solves those problems most times.

@dreamaxx: two flow sensors can be connected the aquaero. One to the direct flow sensor connector and the second one to the 4th fan channel (muse be set from fan to flow sensor in the aquasuite).

@Nickel020: aquaeros can not be connected together via aquabus. That only works with other devices like aquastream, multiswitch etc.

Ok. I wanted to avoid a pcie card. It's really strange and this malfunction only happens with Aquaeros, so it looks like something's wrong with the way Aquaeros are "mounted" by Windows.

I had heard of problems with Asus boards before but once mounted the Aquaeros work flawlessly. So the problem is just at boot time. Your tech team should have a look at this problem, Asus sell a lot of motherboards!

It's a real shame because Aquaeros with powerboost are outstanding products.

Can someone point me to a pcie USB card with 2 internal ports (in Europe) I can't find any? Thanks

We already invested a lot of time here and have given up since the problem itself is totally unclear. The aquaero works 100% correct within the USB specifications which we have also tested over and over again with verifier tools.

We even monitored the USB communication and still have no idea what is going on there with some boards. It only affects a handful of boards from Asus and we also know that some customers with an apparently problem board can use it anyway.

There are also series like the P5Q for example which offers tons of versions where maybe one will not work - it makes no sense at all.

Sounds like the same thing that happens to my external 2.5" hard drive with some motherboard (most ASUS). Sometime it wont get enough power from the port and just mount and unmount endlessly until I plug in the extra USB cable. Most other motherboards I can plug in just the one cable.

Can't be the problem in our case since we do not use the power from USB :D

Shoggy, can the Koolance flow sensor be used in that 4th fan terminal to monitor flow? Or does it have to be the Aqua computer one? Just wondering...

Hope I don't get this problem with my R2E and two Aquaeros.

flow sensors work on RPM readings also, you just have to specify if its a fan speedometer or a flow one, so the program can calibrate for it, also if you are using a USB hub where you have both of them attached, sometimes computers don't like this, use an individual USB port direct from the mobo/USB PCI card for each one.

Yes it will work. Need to dump the amplifier board and install new 3-pin connector on the two bare wires from the flowmeter.

Nah forget the flow sensor issue, i'm talking about the issue mounting two Aquaeros on an Asus board.

I too have the p6t and have this issue with my aquareo.

Sometimes it works on boot, sometimes it doesnt.

Aqua computer are not blame.

I have however found you can you can normally always fix the issue by disabling the enabling the 'Unknown' USB device (aquareo) in the device manager over and over.

It's a USB problem with Asus. It can simply be problematic... crops up with other devices as well. Although I have noticed less of this sort of thing on Win 7.

I finally solved my problem buying the only PCI USB card I could find with enough internal ports. As far as I know it's only available in Germany under the "inline" brand and has 3 internal USB ports: 1x USB type A socket and 2 internal headers.

It was very cheap as well :)

I also found a very handy and well built powered internal USB Hub from NZXT, very small and works extremely well with anything I could throw at it except... the Aquaeros. Even when the hub is connected to the PCI card.

The Aquaeros only worked well when directly connected to the PCI USB card.

sorry for the off topic but to which of the 3 pins do i connect the flow sensor? GND, +5V or RPM. the flow sensor is two pin but on the aquaero it has 3 pin...
also on which row on the USB port on the mobo do i connect it, the one with 4 or the one with 5 pins (with the last pin labeled as NC?) the USD cable has the 2 right pins as GND and on teh mobo it has 4th pin as GND...

Look at the two wires going to the 3-pin plug that goes to the motherboard. Cut the flow meter 2-wire cable and splice with the 2-wire going to the 3-pin plug. Order does not matter. Pitch the amplifier board in the bin.

im not connecting to the motherboard, im connecting to the aquaero's flow plug which is 3 pin I tried to swap also the 2 pin but no luck. any advice? Thanks for the reply mate

What I meant was the 3-pin plug meant for a motherboard connection. It has only two wires and those are to be splice with the only two wires coming from the flow meter. Then plug the 3-pin connector meant for the motherboard onto any Aquero 3-pin connector. You will have change the impulses/liter though to match.

ah I see, i still dont know in which of the three channels to connect it on the 3 pin?

I can actually plug in the 2 pin so I would not need to change it from 2 to 3 pin, right?
