lol. Everyone has their moment, so welcome to the club.
Oops. I like to refer to these moments as fortuitous educational experiences.
It happens. Sleeving doesn't help with sorting out the wires much either. I'm sure nothing died?
dude your oops is not as bad as the molex pin getting lose... and then people coming in asking why there pump wont start on without checking the pin connection. :ROTF:
I doubt it.. he ran 5V on a 12V raited pump.. so i think he didnt have enough startup voltage for the pump to even kick in.
Bah we all make those kinds of mistakes. Heck just this morning I really made one of my LED's really bright for a second. A 3.3v LED accidentally hooked to 12v. :yepp:
ya. this was my "moment" of this build.
no damage done, thankfully. I've got it running right now to bleed it out. After assuming it was the PSU the whole time because of course *I* couldn't screw up the wiring (heh) I finally thought about it and realized it's 8v minimum for the d5. woops!
my heart did sink for awhile as i sat staring at my finished build with a loop full of water and a "dead pump" lol
Reminds me of the multiple times I have finished a computer and hit the power button to see nothing because the 12V CPU plug wasn't in
I was so furious until I realized what had happened haha
Don't worry, I've done worse.
The time I connected a Radeon 9800Pro up to a test PSU that I usually used for fans comes to mind... the Molex connector was wired for the 'ole 7V trick and I didn't notice. Needless to say, I had one less working 9800Pro in my collection after that one.
Red means easy...

even staples got it correct...
hahaha awesome replies to this thread
thanks for the lol's ^_^
almost as bad as computer illiterate coworkers, complaining about their moved computer not working. after pushing the video card in fully, easiest 5 dollars I've ever made... lol
5 dollars? That's a steal, you could get away with more than that
it's not what you do, it's what you know :P
Back in high school, I was putting together this Pentium 133 machine that used the old style AT power supply. Everything was in and connected, but I failed to notice that one of the motherboard power connectors was 2 pins off. Turned it on and *POP* the magic smoke escaped from the machine.
I swapped the cables on the power cable to my fan controller and it blew up.. you're much luckier then me lol
i'll take it as a blessing in disguise that i didn't blow up my 100$ pump ha
ever since this mistake i've literally triple checked all my pins/wires after sleeving
oh btw kenji i posted over in your custom cable thread :D
