Could it handle a Radeon 5870 or am I better off sticking with my MCR-220?
I have an old PA160.1 sitting in box of pc stuff so if it performs better i'd much rather use that for obvious reasons :yepp:

Have never heard about PA160.1 lol :)
Here is some old testing of the PA160, it might be of some use.

Thanks! Retro
Man, I was on the scene just as Marci left. He was a early testing king. That brings back my early reserch for my first loop. Thanks Marcie, hope your life somewhere else in reality is good!
the 5870 will be fine under the pa160.
Actually I think it will handle 2 5870 with a good fan and shroud.
Did anyone save the old performance data from TC's old site? If anyone could post that I would be grateful.
I wish I could know for sure if the PA160.1 is a better performer then the MCR-220. I can't fit both unfortunately and have to choose 1 to use in my gpu loop. :p:
PA 160 is better; I researched both several years ago but had to go with the Swifty since I couldn't find the PA in stock anywhere. That said, the PA was a little over US$100 whereas the MCR was much cheaper.
Thanks for the answer :)
You have to use the PA160 just cause it is the coolest rad ever built :D
photos of it?
and if you want to make it look bigger, put 4x 80mm fans on it.
yup.... my setup absolutely pwns..

The PA160 guys.. is greater then the MCR220, and less then PA120.2
Thats where i remember it being niched at.
Problem is its a big rad.. so it might not fit in all cases in all orientations.
it is very nice, too bad we will be transitioning to 140mm for the next few years, by the time 160mm takes off, you will find that one in a antiques shop.
the PA160 was intended for use with a shroud and 120mm fans
id think a 3$ 160mm yate fan (when they exist) + 160mm rad will demolish any 140 and 120mm rads/fan combos in noise and performance, with the only drawback being space
hmm... thought i had a pic of the 140mm fan shroud i made with a sheet of alum... not too difficult...
Indeed... like this:

Funny Petra! When I had the P180, thats the exact same place I had mine mounted :D

PA180.1 ? What`s that ? 0_0
Ahhh, my bad :)
heh :) what Petra said. Although a PA180 would be insane, LOL!
