According to coolarer, AMD will be announcing a new chipset for AM3. This new chipset is AMD 890FX. It was planned for launch in Q2 2010. Rumours said that manufacturing will start in 2010 Jan/Feb and will go to retali in April 2010.
At the mean time, they have got hold of a photo of the upcoming MSI board based on AMD 890FX chipset MSI 890FX-GD70.

if you go to the link it goes over a few basics in a language i cant read, but did see the words USB3.0 and SATA3
sofar i love it, but i wonder if it will be overpriced being out so early, and how obsolete it will be for BD
More companies should go in MSI's direction for layout and looks, black/blue/white looks great.
only 4-pin CPU power and hardly any space for a heatsink, nice one MSI.

are those the buttons? or just stickers to show the different button? they look flat and im sure its possible they are fully functional, just cant tell if thats the final design
Am i counting that correctly...6 PCIe x16 slots? Do we know how many are full 16x and how many are 8x?
They have touch buttons on the P55-GD80 already, they feel weird, but they're stylish. Also, the power connector is 8-pin, if you look closer, Helloworld.
The most surprising thing is that there's pictures of a board already...
Personally I don't like that big blue somethig on the PWM heatsink. It's ugly and it prevents the free airflow.
Overall I expected more from this board. It looks like a simple evolution of the 790FX-GD70 and nothing more. No Hi-c Cap, no Vkit, no SFC, no OC Dashboard... :rolleyes:
We need a Big Bang-Trinergy like board for the upcoming six-core AMD CPUs. Come on MSI! :yepp:
i also feel like ripping off the big blue "dr mos" wing. the silver underneath would probably look nicer too

i cant wait till i drop 500$ on a new board and a six core amd chip, just when i thought the credit card companies couldnt hate me enough already. i did expect to do a major upgrade in spring 2010, but its going to be here soon, and i dont know if im ready to commit.
Orochi(BD based) is AM3 also,so it won't be any more obsolete than any other AM3 board.It will have a new chipset so if anything else it will provide probably better support for BD cores than the rest of (current) AM3 line-up.Quote:
