Now there will be some real competition to Core 2 in mobile arena where 65nm K8 was having hard time keeping up with 45nm power consumption.

The last laptop you linked has the M520 but none were listing the M6xx processors yet. A M640 is what I'd consider getting my father as a replacement for his Pentium M @1.83GHz with DDR2 533. So any official word on whether these are Regor chips with half of the L2 disabled in the lower models?

This one is Regor 100%:

I suppose that the ones with 1MB of total L2 are Regors too,with half of the L2 disabled.They(M5xx and not M6xx) should also have a support for 64bit SIMD too,and not full 128bit SIMD execution units support like full Regor cores(Phenom I/II and i7/C2 also have 128bit SIMD support,while K8 and Yonah don't).

The mobile i7's from Intel aren't in any direct competition with the AMD chips mentioned above. The 10W-20W difference in TDP means a lot in a notebook as far as size and weight. I would also be skeptical about how often a 55W laptop part like the 920XM could reach it's turbo boost speeds without having to throttle back down.

ive always been keeping arrandale in mind, but those new intel i7 mobiles dont look too good for battery performance
i would very much like to see high powered ati igp or discreet with the new regor based laptops.. would be a nice upgrade for my dad and his old dothan lappy

What I want is a barebone 14" amd notebook with a hd4670/4650 so Im able to work on it when needed with out having to disassemble the whole notebook.

The single core M1xx model(s) (1 core disabled) still have a TDP of 25W... Maybe there will be something later and it's just not announced yet? That or AMD doesn't want to downclock the good dual-cores enough to reach something suitable for a netbook.:shrug:

Screw Regor I want Turion II on the desktop, any chance of that? Kind of weird to see intel and amd going in different directions with their cache setups.

It's a different socket so no. The difference between a 240E and a M640 is minimal. Maybe the mobile version is binned slightly better but since we don't get exact TDP ratings anymore, just the ballpark <=35W or <=45W they could be closer than you think.

Have patience, soon more OEMs will release their mobile lines with AMD CPUs :)

What i would really like is a netbook with a ultra low voltage turion II/athlon II and ati igp.Because for now only choice seems to be crappy atom with even crappier igp or decent celerons with crappy however igps from intel.AMD could REALLY stir this segment.I cant comprehend why arent they doing this, this segment seems to be growing at a rapid pace.
