thinking i should grab a q9550 for futureproofing sakes being im not going i7/i5 anytime so0n. i might pick 1 up tommorow for $160.i cant beat that price and i must be realistic needing a quad core so0ner or later.checking what stepping is best now for 9550,s...
i hate to say this but im being honest i dont think my board can push a quad like i want...more of a dual core board.i might just grab the 9550 and throw it in my closet..lol
i simply refuse to grab new p55 board/12gigs ddr3 ram/and i7 cpu

nice GTX 295. anyway i think you should go for i7 series for gaming. i used a q9550 last week and just moved to i7. i get much improvements in real and synthetic gaming.

i moved from core 2 quad to i7 and games are so much smoother now. its like i am watching a movie or something. and seriously a p55 setup is a good at a steal of a price. once you see those 8 threads in task manager you get a little aroused if you know what i mean.:p:

That's impressive for a GTX 295, didn't know there's a Stalker CS Benchmark, I couldn't handle it running smoothly @2560x1600 with my X2 but since I just upgraded to a core i7, might wanna give it a shot again. :up:

im confused by these results,same bench,same res,same card,and he has a way higher clocked cpu(5.5ghz x2 vs my 4.1ghz x2).plus his 295 clocks are threw the roof compared to mine.mabye my 8 gigs ram help vs your 4 gigs??

It's a dual core, E8600, not quad. Dunno about the difference, perhaps driver revision, amount of memory (8GB vs 2GB)?

his lowest sun shader test is 7,mines 16?...weres his bottleneck at?

hes running ddr3 at 1400.....if he tries ddr3 at closer to 2000 with loose timings i think thats the diff right there.bandwidth..
im ddr2 1026 5-5-5-15 8 gigs..nothing real fancy but still overlocked ram from ddr 800.

let me share, im not sure how much memory need for this bench !
RES 2048 x 1536, highest, bla...2x will eat much RAM....well to know that, easy use task manager while bench, so u can see how much RAM that benchie NEED !! I'll take post sample in CRYSIS WARHEAD GAMING...later.......soon
and if more than 6 GB / 6.5 GB i'm sure that MoonMan got bottleneck...cause he only 6 GB....even ddr3
u must cek how much ram does that bench need first.....
anyway i think u don't have u upgrade anything MAN.......already FAST / VERY NICE SYSTEM :up:

im not saying for 1 sec his system is very fast.but its just weird how his sun shader test is %50 lower on min fps at 5.5ghz!and heavily overclocked 295...dont make sense
only Extreme option,no ultra ....
im thinking bandwidth(speed),not amount of ram.he has 4 gigs..more then enough + 2 gis on his card.he needs closet to 2000 speed with loose timings not 1400 tight timings?...i dunno

Ultra preset is enabled in Vista and Win 7 (DX10). Me and railmeat are using Win XP so only Extreme preset.
