Rust/Corrosion on fittings advice needed.

Hey gang, longtime reader 1st time poster. Best forum on my bookmarks...

I took apart my loop this week to perform what I thought would be routine maintenance. Unfortunately what I found was anything but routine.

This corrosion/rust whatever it is only occurs in the two fittings attached to the Thermochill PA 120.3 radiator by these MCMaster recuders ;

as you can see in the MCMaster reducer threads, there is some residue also but this appears to have come from the corroded fittings as I can clean it.

a brief compenent description ;

All 3/8 Koolance (nickel plated brass) compression fittings.
Koolance CPU block
Koolance gtx 280 block
Thermochill PA 120.3 rad (flushed over 15 times)
Coolant is Primochill PC Pure

Can you guys/gals please give me some feedback? Do you think it's just 1 bad set of fittings as these are the only ones showing a problem?

Perhaps I got a set of steel instead of Nickel plated brass? :mad:

From the looks of things, you've gotten a set of the steel fittings. Which shop? What purchase date?

Yea, they do look like steel. If everything is cleaned up, you might do better with these.

I agree too, steel they are, definitely.

Some Month ago, i got the same problems with all stop fittings, that comes with an Koolance 45 euro Reservoir from aquatuning.de. I informed Koolance about that. Their Answer: you better use our own Coolant, then this would not happend :rolleyes: :confused: :down:

What coolant were you using?

I´m using Innovatek Protect since many years in many watercooling setups and had absolutly no problems with this coolant...until i buy that koolance res. :(

Has to have iron in them, or that isnt iron oxide, but it looks to be. That tint of orange is just a dead give away.

Yeah that looks like rust. I know there were some steel ones wandering around for a while but I thought they were all out of circulation by now.

I have placed an order for a new set. Will send an email to Dean @ Koolance come Monday.

I've been a fan of Koolance components for a while but next build I will be jumping on the bitspower bandwagon I think :x
