Thanks to Asus Australia, I just started with P6T6 WS Revolution in the past few days still learning the ropes but it's an easy board to overclock. I'll start with old i7 920 C0 step cpu then move on to my i7 920 D0 and W3520 D0 cpus:

Max CPUZ Validation was done with same settings as for above DDR3-2108Mhz benchmarks. Yes that's right 4343Mhz validation at 1.408v vcore HT Enabled not bad for old C0 stepping :)

Max BCLK Preliminary Testing
I started testing memory clocks first but one thing led to another, I ended up pushing BCLK frequency somewhat, so decided to see how Asus P6T6 WS Revolution faired in terms of BCLK. This i7 920 3836A756 C0 cpu on DFI UT X58-T3EH8 booted easily to 227-228bclk from bios into windows for super pi 32m with max validation between 231-235bclk all on TRUE120 air cooling.

On Asus P6T6 WS Revolution seems the initial ceiling is similar, in that can boot from bios straight into windows at up to 228bclk with only bumping IOH voltage from 1.1v to 1.20/1.22v and QPI/DRAM (uncore = CPU VTT) volts of 1.3875-1.400v with PCI-E frequency of 103mhz. Managed to pull of 225bclk for Super Pi 1M and 8M but not 32M stable and 228bclk validation at the same voltages.

Issue: Came across my first issue on this board, for some reason I can't set Uncore/CPU VTT voltage (what Asus calls QPI/DRAM volts) to a value >1.400v without after exiting bios, with boot up screen running into blank screen with POST CODE = 31 which isn't in the manual of listed POST CODES ??? If I set to 1.400v QPI/DRAM or less can get into windows at 226-228bclk easily. Something, I'll need to investigate later :)

Max BCLK Testing continued...
7 days ago, tried my first attempt at max bclk on i7 920 3836A756 C0 #2 cpu, and got to around 228bclk validation but no 32M Pi stability. Now after trial and error testing of bios settings and voltages, managed to pull off 230 bclk validation and 225.8 bclk for Super Pi 32M.

Asus TurboV windows app was pretty useful for testing different voltages within windows for Super Pi 32M. I used TurboV in conjunction with setFSB to start with 220 bclk boot from bios into windows and setFSB to 223 bclk for 32M Pi. Then after figuring out voltages tried 225 bclk boot from bios into windows and passed 32M Pi at 225 and 226 bclk.

Uncore Frequency Testing - preliminary findings

As to uncore testing, i only really did max uncore extensive test with W3520 D0 on DFI UT X58 around Uncore of 4600-4760mhz for 32M pi-validations. All only i7 920 C0/D0 cpus on DFI UT X58-T3EH8, I didn't push uncore past 4200-4400mhz. On P6T6, only used my poorest/worst i7 920 3836A756 C0 #2 cpu and that easily pushed to 4200mhz uncore for 32M and 4401mhz uncore for validation. This is all on water cooled cpu. So pretty nice the differences could be due to C0 vs D0 stepping or added NF200 on P6T6 ?.

P6T6 though gains performance in 32M pi up to 4200mhz. At 4300+ uncore 32M pi loops were slower than at 4200 and below uncore, so suggests RTL latency etc was too loose at 4300+ uncore. Still more investigating need :)

Uncore Comparisons: 16x vs 18x vs 19x vs 20x vs 21x
Testing uncore frequency on i7 920 3836A756 C0 #2 cpu with P6T6 WS Revolution 0601 beta bios and pretty much the same key voltages needed for 32M Pi stability as with DFI UT X58-T3EH8 tests with W3520 D0 cpu - CPU VTT and VDIMM - as you push Uncore frequency higher you need more CPU VTT uncore volts (QPI/DRAM) and VDIMM ;)

Quick 32M Pi bench pushing these OCZ Platinum 1333 Animals to DDR3-1702Mhz 7-7-7-24 1T at:

• 1.66v vdimm, 1.40v CPU VTT (QPI/DRAM) for default 3404mhz Uncore frequency
• 1.74v vdimm, 1.60v CPU VTT (QPI/DRAM) for 20x multi Uncore frequency of 4255mhz

As most folks know as you overlock the Uncore (NB) frequency you'll need more vdimm voltage to get stable. But as with DFI UT X58 uncore frequency tests, Asus P6T6 WS Revolution needs more CPU VTT uncore (QPI/DRAM) voltage as well. You can see more Uncore frequency comparisons here. Asus P6T6 WS Revolution certainly needs alot more CPU VTT uncore volts to reach similar bclk/uncore/mem frequencies than on DFI UT X58-T3EH8 though!

OCZ3P1333LVA6GK 'Animals' CAS8 Overclocking continued....
Improved on previous max 8-8-8-24 1T clocks of DDR3-1997Mhz validation and DDR3-1954Mhz for Super Pi 32M at 1.70v. Managed validation @DDR3-2080Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.76v and Super Pi 32M @DDR3-1990Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.76v (seems 200bclk with DDR3-2000Mhz gets 5-10 errors on test #5 loop in memtest86+ v2.11).

Interesting thing is BACK To BACK CAS# Delay subtiming optimal values for this clock are either 4 or 8. AUTO, 6, and 10 result in less stability for these memory modules.

Asus 0601 7/21 dated is private beta but I have been asked not to share as yet. Asus have newer bioses for internal testing one dated 7/23 and it should have fixes for supporting Uncore/QPI and memory multipliers fully for Xeon W35xx cpus so wait for Asus to release that bios soon ;)

Not sure about throttling fix yet. But 7/23 dated bios also adds TDP/TCP protection disabling too apparently.

Good news. Juan Jose Guerrero from Asus has released beta bios 0007 for the Asus P6T6 WS Revolution. This should fix turbo throttling issues. Asus does not intend to release this special bios through their website.

i7 Turbo has been updated to version 6.5 and is the most accurate way to monitor that your CPU multiplier on your Core i7-920 is locked on 21.000 like it should be at full load. Avoid using HW Monitor, Everest and RealTemp 3.00 when testing. CPU-Z and RealTemp 3.30 or Core Temp 0.99.5 should be fine.

He's helping to get this problem solved and is hoping that the bios guys can create a special bios version for all of the P6T motherboards.

Put in a request in the visitor messages and be patient. With the release of the Core i5 motherboards getting close, I'm sure they are busy with that.

I can't wait to see some P6T6 results and some more happy users.

P6T6 is excelent board and I´m happy with mine but bios is kind of tricky and that Xeon thing has to be fixed!

I just wish there was a better list of the codes that come up on the G.P. Diagnosis card. Other than that, I'm loving this board.

Asus said they are working on new bioses than 0601/007 which will fully support xeons but you'd have to wait for them to publish on their web site.

trial and error adjusting voltages I've sort of figured out what codes refer to what issues holding up boot issues but had to remove the card for SLI in PCI-E x16 1+5 slots anyway heh

turbo throttling not fixed :down:

enkie: When Asus came out with a special bios for the P6T Deluxe v1, a user didn't have to do anything in the bios. It automatically took care of the problem and nothing needed to be adjusted. Can you have a look through your bios to see if there are any new settings that might let you toggle turbo throttling on and off. Something doesn't make sense.

Can you post another picture and include the Mainboard tab in CPU-Z so it is 100% obvious that you are using 0007. I don't doubt you but I would like to have something I can send to Asus so they have no doubts.

Can you also run a longer log file at 100% load. Maybe some Prime95 Small FFTs for a minute if that is sufficient load to cause throttling. Once again your results are obvious to me but I want them to be obvious to the guys in the white coats.

Can you also download the latest version of i7 Turbo version 6.3? It has one minor bug fix but it shouldn't make any difference in your results.
