Nice to see HWLabs releasing some low FPI radiators :up:
DAMN they aren't cheap.
WOW. Wonder if these are worth the extra 40$ over the RX480....
Wow 9FPI
And
"Full electrostatic polyurethane painting finish"
My favorite thing about HWlabs rads
Interesting...
The only two things stopping me from using HWLabs was the high FPI and the price. Seems they've knocked one of those on the head!
They've always had good build quality.:yepp:
Without doubt, the best looking radiator to date and i hear the performance isn't bad either ;)
I was lucky enough to get my hands on these SR-1's a while back and all i can say is, they are absolutely top quality and i can't believe how quiet they are.
Using a 240 on the GFX loop and a custom X-Flow 360 on the CPU's on the Zotac mod box and loving them :up:
Also had one painted up for my next mod :)
how are the reviews on these got anyone? I was debating over the black ice (originals) vs the feser and it seemed the feser 480 was better due to its low fpi and could use lower spin fins vs the black ice anything above 1800 was a win thast too loud though.
Well, it looks like HWLabs has started to pull their heads out of their arses but haven't quite gotten them out all the way yet. If these are truly as quiet as I think they may be, these rads should have been given the "stealth" moniker. There is still the matter of the thin tubes from the look of it. They should have added a few more tubes per pass to reduce the amount of restriction these rads impose on the flow.
I know HWL sometimes visit this site so I'll take this opportunity to say, get a new marketing dept. . .PLEASE! Stuff like this
is very vague. If you have a true performer, spell it out in clear language that can be compared directly to every other rad on the market, in other words, stop hiding behind percentages.Quote:
Features:
* Two-pass u-flow configuration utilizing high-flow tubes for up to 40% increase in internal flow rates.
* Custom compressed core width to maximize airflow and enhance heat exchange.
* Optimized custom 9 FPI (Fins Per Inch) 45 micron copper maximized conductivity.
* Yields up to 30% more heat exchange capacity than the Black IceŽ GTX in ultra-stealth operation mode up to 2000rpm.
* Built-in 15mm deep plenum for equalized core air pressure distribution.
* M4 Threaded Screw Holes for easier mounting and greater adaptability.
* Standard G 1/4" female threaded fittings.
* Full high-temper brass structural construction for weight reduction and superior corrosion resistance.
* High performance compact radiator compatible as an upgrade to the Black IceŽ Xtreme, Black IceŽ GTX and most 120mm form factor radiators.
* Uses 100% Non-corrosive water-soluble fluxing process.
* Fully RoHS compliant.**Expected Q3 2009**
* Full electrostatic polyurethane painting finish for uniform coating with high temperature curing for increased finish durability.

Now, on to my :2cents: about the "features" I've highlighted.
Hmm, really? Looks like the same 1.2mm tubing from the images @DD. How is that high flow?. . .and what is this 40% increase compared to?Quote:
Two-pass u-flow configuration utilizing high-flow tubes for up to 40% increase in internal flow rates
:rofl: That can't be too hard to accomplish. (where's the facepalm smilie?)Quote:

thanks for the link
this might be my next upgrade :)
Will it work better then the 480GTX with high rpm fans ?
Can't find 480GTX in stock anywhere, might get these instead...
Another option (XSPC RX480) for a bit less $$:

doubt it, the low FPI is optimized for lower speed fans. the GTX has high FPI which are optimized for more powerful fans. Higher FPI rads tend to scale very fast compared to low FPI rads as air flow and pressure increases.
This is why I went with GTS rads over MCR due to the speed of the fans I'm going to run the GTS will outperform the MCR's, I can definitely attest that with fans like San Aces running full blast, which I do at Lans etc where I have headphones on the GTX and GTS will blow away pretty much any other rads in their respective sizes(120.x and thickness).
Needs a L in the middle...
then it turns into a SLR~!!!
RAWR~
0 - 60 in less then 4 seconds...
vs
Los Angeles to NYC in under 2 hours...
OK SR-71 it is!
sounds interesting, wonder how well it preforms in actual testing
I really curious about Black Ice SR1 480 performance results between Feser QUAD 480 rad. :rolleyes: Plus their price are as high as Feser for now. :eek: After this summer, I'll upgrade my loops and I am thinking about 2x Feser QUAD now. However, I'll check Black Ice series rads performance results before I got my Feser QUADs of course.
Thanks for the news mate.
Cheers,
Arthur
