4Ghz barrier on Cinebench 64Bit

I know this was a problem even for the extreme cooling folks when PHII's were first released...

My chip will pass most benches at 4.1Ghz, but even now it seems like Cinebench has a limit, I can run it at 3.996, but if I bump the HTRef up by one and push the CPU clock over 4Ghz I get a balck screen crash....

Has anyone figured this out?

It's not really that big of a deal, my machine runs really well even at 3.8Ghz..

But Cinebench just seems like an odd benchmark and may be a software problem... :shrug:

Cinebench is a bit hard...If u made test Cinebench R10, its not long away from 100% stability CPU. My best is with 3950MHz. How is your score with 3996Mhz? Post to Cinebench R10 challenge ,-) (in my signature)

None of us ran Cinebench 64bit over 4GHz ;)

I fear the only solution to this issue might be Rev-C3/D0 (I hope).
It doesn't seem to be hot-spot issue at all if even LN2 cooling nets only 4.2GHz as mentioned by *chew :(

I will give it a go in win XP 64 and win 7 64 tonight if I have Time. I have tried yet for 4ghz cinebench.

Damn, you're right! :rolleyes: We didnt. I could have swore we did at one point. I will give it a go as well and see what happens.

guys get rid of the ram clocks for cinebench in 64 bit ;) run your ram at ddr 2 speeds if on ddr 3, if on ddr II run at ddr 1 speeds.

It will help you get higher cpu clocks.....ram benefits you almost nothing in cinebench but does make you less stable when pushing hard in 64 bit.

dropped mine from 1066 to 800mhz and got stable at 3.8ghz from 3.7ghz. maybe I'll drop a few more.
I haven't noticed any difference form 400mhz all the way up to 1104mhz lol
