My X3 720 needs 1.44 voltage in order to be stable @ 17 * 200 =3400 with stock amd cooler.. do you think that is too much??.. Temp @ full load 55 -57C
I am thinking changing the stock cooler so i can go further ,thinking a small good cooler ( i have a midi case )

They are cheap and smalll but are they any good?
That's not to bad considering the 1.55V is the max you'd want to have your Phenom running at.
Did you really set 1.325v and get 1.44v? Not sure on what cooler though, mini ninja has the 9850 in my girlfriends computer get up into the 50's range with it at 2.7ghz on stock volts so no idea if that would be much better for you.
No ,the default voltage is 1.31..so i set Vcore +125mv on my dfi's bios and that gets me 1.31+0.125= 1.435 ~ 1.44Voltage stable @ 3400mhz..Quote:

And for the cpu cooler, both company made good product. You will be limited by your small form factor, so the only person that could take the best decision will be you ^^. Have a look at the review on the web, they do pretty good one those days.

Phenom II's and heat are night and day. They are so easy to cool down that when overclocking you rely more on tweaking than worrying about heat. (granted you have an adequate cooler) :up:Quote:

My 720 will run @3400mhz with out touching Vcore and using 2000/2200nb..Stock cooler.
You may want to try it. I noticed that on my Mobo default NB was 1.1vid so i set it to 1.3vid..
This same CPU is good to 4ghz/2800nb @ 1.6v on water
i have a Coolermaster Hyper 212 ... great cooler!:D

RRunner I am almost equal settings too you at 3.552Mhz. FSB 203. I have been using this setting for awhile now and it seems to be my personal best with stable. What voltages are you using in comparison to mine.
X17.5, 203FSB, X12 NB&HT 2432, CPU VDD v 1.450, CPU NB v 1.375, CPU v 1.510, CPU NB v 1.405, CPU PLL v 2.652, Dram v 1.80 (my sticks), NB v 1.30, SB v 1.25
Different memory but I am 9.9.9.24.2T, C1E off, CnQ Auto, SpreadSprectrum ON (I have no stability problem with on), GPU 810/1090. My temps are high 20's idle, up to high 40's under load.
I am trying to compare other results too see if any of my voltages can benefit or keep me stable if even lower. I have had higher temps with lower voltages and less stability?

The NB Core is chipset is usually 1.1v
A lot of times you can clock Higher Freqencies just by Raising the NBvolts on CPU to the same or slightly lower than the CPUvcore(up to 1.55v for PHII's.
Example:
CPUvid = 1.32v
NBvid = 1.30v
I usually wont need more than 1.45nbvid for most my High overclocks.
When you are Trying to keep around stock Cpuvcore i will set the NBvid just below the Vcore Value ( Stock voltage/or default voltage).
Each CPU is different and Most will need a small bump in Vcore to get 3400/3500mhz with close to stock Volts ...It all depends on the Cooler or Cooling you use.

C1E off, CnQ Disable, SpreadSprectrum ON, GPU Stock. My temps are high 19's idle, up to high 32's under load.
my x3 720BE would be stable at 3400MHz ( 17*200 ) at stock voltage
motherboard is Asus M4A78-EM
do you guys suggest I get a better board to overclock more?
3.4ghz is about the average overclock on stock volts so I wouldn't worry about the board. You might get limited by the board at higher overclocks, but usually the cpu itself is the biggest limiting factor.
Gotvoltage what are your temp and witch WC do you use?
1,6 volts seem really high! I'm really curious about temps!
