Alert to anyone requiring CNC machining (Routing, Milling, Lathe work)

I would like to bring to the attention of our forum a great CNC shop I have recently used to get CNC work done. I have discussed with Eric (the owner) offering his CNC services to this community, and he was all for it.

Company:
A1 CNC in Kingston, NH

Machine Specs:

5'x10' CNC router
3 full sized CNC mills capable of milling delrin copper aluminum and acrylic (and i'm sure other things too)
1 CNC lathe capable of turning 7" max Dia

He is willing to take things by mail and he is very very good at programing and he can work with you on your design as well! I found that I could tell him things about my design and he just got it and was very receptive to my requests, he is a veteran traditional and CNC machinist of over 25 years and he really is a professional.

his shop fee is $50/hr and he can work for you on design and machining :)

the cuts seen above were very affordable - the side panels (2) were $75 and the front plates (3) were $75 as I gave him my own .dxf files for this job :up: - You can also commission me to design 2d items for cutting, just shoot me a PM.

Prices sound reasonable and the work looks very nice.:up:

Snipe, thoes designs are sick.....i wish i had of thought of similar kinds of slits for radiator ventilation on my case....... cant wait to see that case finished!!!

CNC milling- Not quite as cool as abrasive water jet, but definitely worth the money!!! id love to take advantage, but i dont think id want to pay shipping price to have it flown across 'the pond' hehe

Your panels came out really nice. Now can you please find me a CNC shop in NYC? (lol) No seriously, I'm willing to travel as far East as Queens, but I cannot go any farther upstate than the Bronx. Because you see, anytime I have to leave the island of Manhattan, the rest of America kind of frightens me.

In all seriousness: thanks for the idea, but ima have to find one closer to home.

EDIT: do you think a CNC guy would laugh at me if I asked for a unicorn cut-out side panel (like my avatar)? I do likes my unicorns.

Way too many people and driving is a nightmare.
sat in a 6 mile traffic jam to get to the Troggs Neck Bridge to get to Long Island and this was back in 1977..

$50 is a good price, most shops charge more than that.

Fantastic work.

In a few months I'm going to start on my own CNC router... a 36"x24" unit will make me into a case modding powerhouse. From the research I've done I should be able to put it together for about $1200 or so.

Either way this sounds like a good deal. This is a really good time to bargain with machine shops because in this economy a lot of shops have machines sitting doing nothing, and that is a machinist's worst nightmare... when a machine is idle they'll work for just about any amount of money just so that the machine is earning at least something. Most shops either lease or purchase their machines on loan, and their ability to make the machine payments is based on the machine running every work day.

If you haven't been to NYC since 1977, you really should come back, it's a lot different now. You would not recognize Times Square. In fact, I don't even recognize Times Square, I think they ruined it now that it's a giant "pedestrian mall". Regardless of the mistake they made in Times Square, Manhattan is still an island oasis that is separated physically and spiritually from the ignorance, bigotry, hypocrisy, and bad food that seems to blanket the rest of the country (at least that's what I encounter when I'm out there in the heartland, maybe there's some good parts, but I can't ever seem to find them). PM me if you ever come back to NYC, and I promise I can show you anything that you would ever want to see, literally.

yes, Times Square is exactly as ethOs said, a pedestrian mall... and guess what... 125th street in Harlem is a tourist-safe area... way safer than when i used to live back then...

i'm also in NYC... i work in soho area... eat lunch BEFORE visiting soho...

i've contracted some of these folks for projects in my shop...

can't say much for them... as i've only used a couple of them... but they are eager to give you quotes...

We have them all where I work. Our largest CNC mill can do a 14'x14'x40' part and it has three heads to work in mulitple axis at once. Our largest CNC lathe can do a 12' long part. We have CNC grinders, both OD and ID. We have a full sheet metal department with waterjet and plasma cutters, a full plumbing department. My job is overhead crane operator, I run a 60 ton crane to feed a 750 ton dual action press. We build automated CNC mills and lathes. Some of our big contracts are with Ford, Mercury Marine, Detroit Deisel & GM Hydromatic. No one drives a GM car with A/C that hasn't had many parts run on our machines. We do oddball stuff as well, 155mm rounds for NATO have been turned on machines we built, all the armor plating for the M-1 tanks were cut by us. I'm on the list for a mill apprentership but with the downturn in our auto industry it could be a while before I start. I'm trying to talk one of our plumbers into running a hard line cooling system for my next computer build now that Koolance sells the fittings.

I like CNC machines!! I go through them 20 a week :)

bump awnser to above quote please

midpanels is easy... sheet of metal with some cutting then some bending at the ends...
side panels cutting is easy, cnc that sucker out... but making new is tough...
the front plate to cover the bay areas will require a combo of cnc and bending brake and welding/jb weld...

the uniframe can be done... but mind you... that's one thick arse piece of alum and will cost a bundle to fabricate a new one...

so in short yes but itd be hard and id end up sending the whole case to him ?
