Issue with 790FX GD70, any ideas?
Okay, hopefully someone has an idea. I seem to be having an issue with SuperPI with the new MB/CPU setup. Anytime I run PI 8M, 16M, or 32M, after about the 6th iteration it pops up and says "The program was stopped due to an issue", then closes it. I can run any other PI, actually gives a decent stock 1M score, and I can run any other stress test just fine. Prime totally solid stock or mild overclock, ran Memtest on the RAM for about 8 hours(250 passes) without a single error, everything seems to pass fine, except the 8M, 16M, and 32M SuperPI. Heat is definitely not an issue, nor is voltage, all are stable. I tried a Vista workaround, and that did nothing. SO, any ideas?
The board came with BIOS v1.1 installed, so I flashed it too v1.3 shortly after setup, and tonight I flashed too 1.3B7, still had the same issue with PI. I have noticed something though I find odd. Those running the board know that after a BIOS flash and on initial first bootup after install, it will POST, then after POST it asks you too pres F1 to enter setup, or press F2 to load optimized defaults to continue. Well, every single time I flash the BIOS, after POST at the bottom of the screen right about the option to press F1 to enter setup, it says BIOS Checksum Bad. It says this ever single time after flashing the BIOS. Once I enter the BIOS, set everything, save and exit, I never see the message again, and it POST fine. But, I notice as it is going through each screen during POST and while loading windows, as it changes screens it has a garbled/screwed up area at the bottom quarter of the screens. Not sure why, and I wonder if the BIOS is maybe causing issues? Like I said, after every flash this BIOS Checksum Bad message pops up, but after entering and setting the BIOS, it never shows again, it's ONLY right after you flash it.
Anyone have an idea at all what else to check? I've got everything currently running bone stock, the only thing that is changed in the BIOS, is setting the DRAM Voltage, setting the CPU Multi at x15.5, Disabling Spread Spectrum, and setting up RAID, otherwise everything is pretty much all set too auto. If anyone has any ideas please lemme know. I am thinking it is a CPU or MB issue, and if I can't figure it out I may just RAM for the Gigabyte 790FXT UD5P board. Since the MSI is unable to unlock any cores at all, and most of the Gigabyte and Asus boards can.
Anyway, shoot me some ideas. I am out of them since I have tried everything I can think of. By the way, all the system specs are below.
Thanks.
