Well why don't you guys toss out some speeds you would like tested I can can do a quick comparison for yah.
cpu speed
NB speed
Ram speed
I will only use my 2x2 gig sticks to give you a more real word comparision but please note I have much better quality ddr 2 in 2x2g than I do in ddr 3 namely due to cost atm.............
can do 1333+ 6-6-6 and 1600+ 7-7-7 for ddr 3
can likely pull 980+ 4-4-4 and 1200+ 5-5-5
Give me a day or so and I will knock it out.
3600 cpu / 2600 nb should not give me any isssues.
processor 3200-3400 i forgot
NB was 2600
Ram was 1600 8-8-8-24
no i havent tried tightening the timings more

Just dont change em all at once ..Write down your speed each time you change a setting. Sometimes a looser timing with one setting will increase performance while the others are tight:D
actually i was going to set it to 225 htt for my full 1800 in ram speed
Has anybody tried for max CPU-NB clock on the (L3 less) Athlon II ?
Was that 10500 in mem read, write, or copy? I'm on ddr2 and with the nb at over 3ghz my read is like 99xx, write I think is 103xx-105xx, and copy is like 115xx. L3 cache is 102xx read, 149xx write, 155xx copy.
16x255=4080 cpu @ 1.6v
12x255=3060 nb 1.57v
11x255=2805 ht link stock
4x255=1020 memory 2.26v
Still wanting to buy a 955 to put in this system and then replace the cpu in another system. With speeds like mine I have no reason to move to ddr3 yet as my memory is already ridiculously fast.

DDR II first........
I tossed 32m in to show these are actual usable speeds and not something that just barely passed everest by the skin of its teeth......
Speeds acchieved with what I like to term easy mode for 1200......I set timings and voltage to spec..... 5-5-5 2.1v........crank fsb and rip....
980 and 1000 was not so simple however I did no advanced tuning.....I set everything to SPD setting or I could not boot...auto was not working.......2.2v used for that......as you can see my sticks are not capable of 4-4-4 1000 and just do 1200 so much easier.....( which is why i use them that way ) Hoping I will have better luck with a set of OCZ blades......
Not a perfect comparison due to multi limits but I tried to keep it close...I might add everest is not always representative of realworld and benifits from higher bandwidth versus latency

DDR III Same method applies, easy mode that any average joe can acchieve......

Moving on to not so easy mode......DDR III these are my OCZ LV 1600 7-7-7 kit ( not my OCZ AM3 kit which are a tad faster ;) ) .....cost $80 for a triple channel 6 gig kit
I think I max out around 743 on these but just not feeling like tuning them atm......

1600+ not so easy mode.......these usually pull 1664 no clue whats up with the rig...being ornery today for whatever reason.

I'm not too familiar with AMD boards, is it normally the case to see better results with higher clocks over lower timings?

This is a work in progress here with 3.8ghz being rock stable at the same ram speed + timings and same nb speed.

real world apps would be just about everything not in your list of testing :shakes:
Better performance at what timings as well........1600 6-6-6 is faster than 1700 7-7-7.....heck its faster than 1800 7-7-7 its already been proven and i'm not going to get into a discussion over it I am just providing hard results for users that requested it and doing so at with out a doubt proven stable memory speeds.......
So since I tuned it to be a backup gaming pc I did it perfectly than right? Is this platform even good for much else besides that?
The timings I'm currently using are 7-6-6-18 1T, 1800mhz 8-8-8-24 blew the doors off of that although I couldn't seem to get it stable without giving up a lot of cpu speed.
I'm honestly curious here chew so don't get cranky! What real world apps are you using to measure performance with?
I would experiment with encoding for starters.
Tuning for 7-6-6 was wise ;)

I navnt had time to really compar both DDR2/DD3..this is good stuff.
Ive noticed with DDR2 and propper tuning My( L3 Read)and (Memory Read) like to hang Out between 9300/9900mb/s when im around 1150mhz. Thus my tunnig isnt too off the mark .
DDR3 just made me drool,, bandwidth ,, Read Writes,, even the fact one can run 1T @ 1600,,
Then the Fact of all things is DDR3 Keeps the READ and Writes for L3 and Memory above 10000:up:
This is not to easy to do with DDR2 if one is not familiar with settings.
Those first runs were all i Needed to See.. I know where this stuff is headed:D
So if anybody is going play with AMD for the First time,,
It is very wise move to Go DDR3 from the Get Go .. prices are About the Same anyway now between Budget mobos and 1600 Ram.
Untill i do make the move to DDr3 ,,
I too shall invest in some Blades. Especially since they will clock 1200+ and with nice timing ,, low volt.
I wish The Man @ OCZ would make a LV1333 set on DDR2. That would be the BOMB:yepp:
@gOtVoltage, I actually was trying to get mine stable at 1800mhz 8-8-8-24 1T. It might be a little harder due to running 4x1gb sticks or just that I don't yet know how to get it stable having been away from AMD since C2D was released.
Aw youll get used to it...Little tricky at first . Once you know what each setting does its night and day. I just dont play around with ram enuff unless i find a Bios which can tweak everything. Then ill tweak them for hours at a time one setting at a time.
