Noooooo, wrong color!
Honestly bring on the Blue series 500GB platter disks already. These Green series drives have had way too much attention.
Wtf is this green crap. Bring a 2x500gb platter black drive, or re3.
I agree, Caviar Green does not even have the RPM listed on the spec sheet. Does it spin down to 5400 RPMs. Hard Drives really don't use that much power, I don't say anything but I see people doing a RAID 0 with them in performance systems. If you are concerned about HD power you can add that to your power management profile.
Off the subject, I put together this eSATA with 2 WD Blacks. I am limited by the PCI 1x bus I think. Later I may replace them with some slower drives. But, they are not bad.

Here you go :)

7200rpm will probably released soon though like they hinted in the response I got from WD, these 2 Green 500GB platter disks have been around for quite a while now so it would start making sense to offer the 7200rpm disks that would do like 100 - 105MB/s avg reads as opposed to the Green 500GB platter disks which performs roughly the same as the older 334GB 7200rpm platter disks.
Imagine how well a 2x500GB platter Blue series disk with 100 - 105MB/s avg reads and hopefully the nice <12ms access times would sell at price of $89 (newegg.com price) or $99 MSRP. Personally I'd take the 1.5TB if price is like $149 or lower though.
That would be RE4/RE5 :D GP-RE4 is already out though.
And I'll have to keep waiting for a single platter 500 GB non-Seagate disc...
Christ, what's taking so long?
any idea when, we'll be able to get these at the egg, currently shopping for a new hdd ;)
I already have one of these. Got it local. Its already almost full of movies. Great drive. Can't tell any speed difference between my 640 gig and this. These are great for mass video storage or the like. Who cares what color it is. I'm gonna have to get another one tommorrow.
so they are circulating already? any chance these are at newegg?
Well looks like we have the Green 1.5TB 3x500GB WD15EADS here in Shanghai 959rmb or $140 US. We seem to be getting a lot of WD products into China very quickly now, thankyou Newegg. But my next disc is a WD Blue 640GB for the wife's PC and then a WD Black 1TB for me.

The Blue is $10 cheaper and will only be used for data such as TV programes. I like the WD 1TB Blacks and need a second one as the first one is nearly full of Topgear and Dr Who programes!
