Review of 800SP Radeon HD 4830
Quote:
800SP Radeon HD 4830 shows nearly 7% performance improvement compared with 640SP HD 4830. The most significant improvement (15.53%) under 3DMark Vantage Extreme preset might give you an idea of how huge the gains you’ll get from a 800SP HD 4830.
The performance of 640SP Radeon HD 4830 lagged behind 9800GT in UT3, Crysis, GTA4 and COD4, but now, HD 4830 has outperformed 9800GT, except for UT3 (less than 5% difference). 800SP HD 4830 even outperforms 9800GT by 40% in 8XAA.
When compared with HD 4850, it only lags behind 8% with default clocks. You know it’s quite easy to overclock HD 4830 to catch up with HD 4850.
800SP HD 4830 has beaten GeForce 9800GT with no surprise, and it’s unnecessary for NVIDIA to fight back in the way just like AMD gives up HD 4850. Perhaps it’s wise to plan for a 9800GT Overclocking Edition instead.
Radeon HD 4770 is slated to launch at the end of this month, so AMD needs to clear the RV770 stock to make space for new products. Obviously, AMD has gained a lot from 800SP Radeon HD 4830. Whether or not this is part of AMD’s publicity scheme, we hope AMD will carry on with this sweet mistake.
