Sum-up of the three-day benching preparations for something more serious. My main goal was to hit the 3GHz barrier in order to find a decent clocker. XP1700+ DLT3C (the golden stepping) promised the most & certainly fulfilled my expectations. I used a nVentiv Mach I which i have modded myself - click! - manufactured new evaporator, rebuild and regass.

With better PSU, 3.05GHz on a 1700+ DLT3C should be possible on SS, ~ 3.2GHz on a cascade and maybe 3.3GHz on a LN2 :)

Chipset (nForce 2 ST) is a weak clocker hence riddiculus Vdd voltage (for 200MHz Pi32M ~ 1.75Vdd is needed, for ~ 233MHz Pi1M about 2.5-2.53V). I am waiting for a day north bridge will melt on me :P

Mods i have performed:
- 3.3Vdimm rail mods
- OVP mod - remove R678 :yepp:
- Vdd mod
- SMD caps mod

nF2 Ultra definitely, KT600 lacks PCI/AGP lock above 200MHz FSB (highest PCI:FSB divider is 1:6 :()

ahh gotcha so old chips i'm good on either but newer FSB200 chips i need to stick with NF2 oh well either way i plan to kill several VGA cards and cpu's

Why didn't you use a better PSU btw? I know the 1200w'ers probablyu won't work too well, but there must be something that's a bit better than what you used during that session:p:

Thanks fellas! :P Yes, nowadays everyone's benching E8600/i7. This is 'benching for your soul', as I like to call it :yepp: I have to ask my fellow buddy Moonman if he's willing to lend me his old OCZ DDR Booster, i could really use some more volts on the DIMMs :) I am in a process of buying a new PSU, i'm leaning towards Corsair TX850 (single 12V = 70A ; 5V = 30A ; 3.3V = 30A). It should perform very well I think :)

Nice scores.. I still have a 2600+ XP-M on an Abit AN7 rig up and running - does 2,7Ghz at 1,9V on worse-than-crap watercooling from 2001 24/7 :up:

I used to run the 8RDA+ too, but after the 3rd one died of blown caps within 6 months I changed mobos. Did you mod yours? I don't see any 8RDA+ with stock caps being still alive...

But yeah, it sucks for FSB - my AN7 runs FSB 250 1T stable with 1,85V VDD :D
Also have it VDD modded, would just need more than 3,3V Vdimm to go higher...

I cannot push more than 3.3V in memories, i am already feeding them directly from 3.3V rail, DDR booster should solve this problem :P This motherboard is modded all around, yes, all caps around DIMMs, NB & CPU were inflated. Not only once :D

Had a lot of SKT A stuff, NF7-S 2.0 was best board IMO especially with that soundstorm..8rda I had only did 190FSB and caps blew. Had an 8rdae after that which was ok, did 220FSB. One 1700 DLT POST'd at 3 gig with 2.1v on the abit on air, think it was an 0308 same as yours. Had a 1700 DLT 0310 that clocked well too. Another system I had ran Asus A7M266-D with two 1700+ modded to MP @ 2300-2400MHz, hard modded multiplier and vcore.

Thanks guys on your kind words. Well, today i wanted to bench the XP2400+ under cascade but unfortunately blew the Vdd IC driver few minutes into benching :/ Must have been a short circuit. North bridge still works AFAIK, but two IC drivers blew out totaly :(

@Massman: Unfortunately no. Have you seen the prices for NF7-S rev2.0? They're insane! DFI is almost impossible to find too. I have bought another EP-8RDA (vanilla, non-plus) for 19.90€, the only reasonable offer i could find. Until the motherboard arrivers, my K7 benching has come to abrupt halt :(

I managed to get 3.08GHz out of it, at only 2.05Vcore:

Too bad I just gave away my AN7/XP-M rig to a friend.. or you could have had it for very little money. I always wanted to bench that one on subzero, 3,2-3,3Ghz should be easy, mobo can handle FSB260+ 1T with the already applied VDD mod, all you'd need is a Vram booster to get enough juice (AN7 Bios max = 3,3V)

You really need a Barton mate ;)

I have one Barton 2500+, but it just sucks though (2.82GHz max Pi1M under SS). I had a 2500+ mobile which sucked even more :)

Nice old school bench and nice results you've got there, tiborrr ;) I benched a bit on my old NF7 v2.0 and mobile Barton 2500+ recently with LN2. I managed to get straight 3GHz with 2.25v, but he died after that unfortunatelly. My friend max and i tested two NF7 v2.0 and one NF7-S, all three of them were "Made in China", and went up to 265MHz. We tried few mods, but that didn't help.

P.S. ako želiš, javi se na PM, ovdje u Hrvatskoj bi se možda dalo nabaviti Abitica NF7 (-s) v2.0, po relativno prihvatljivim cijenama od 20-25€. Tako sam ja nabavio svoju ;)

This was the last benches I did my new cascade, charged with CO2 (-70°C evaporator). Since yesterday it's running R-1150 Ethylene and it reaches -100°C club. Will be interesting to see if this 2400+ (which is now octagonal due to many chipped die corners :lol:) can reach 3250-3300MHz.
