Need over 2.3 volt to the cpu... ;) have no2 cooling and 2.8 volt is enuff i think.. ;) so is it any one who have a guide there they show how to get higer vcore???

ok i can take my 8RDA+ to but i need 2.8 volt at least.. is it posible to get it om then 8rda+? if i cut the over voltage protection stuff... and have mosfet cooling..??
the IC is the same as the KX7 and KR7A raid if i i can remember correctly, can someone confirm this?

8rda+ will probably blow up at 2.8v.

Pin 7 is the FB pin, so its the usual mod adding resistance from pin to ground for more voltage.. pretty simple stuff
Start off with the highest VR you have on a low Vcore setting (I use 1mo normally) that should be fairly safe)
We can expect that your going to trip the OCP as well.
This will be set by the 3 resistors RsenI 1,2 and 3
Luckily these 3 beastys are easily identified on the board as R166,R167 and R168 they are all about 3k.
The current sense should be linear with the resistance so assuming that Abit set 25% at 2.3v we are overcurrenting by 48% (2.8/2.3 squared) so lets make it 75% over 2.3v which will probably mean around 4.2k resistors (on the board)
So whatever you can get over 4k TBH.
Have fun and dont blame me if it blows up :P (it may do @2.8)
Make sure the entire socket area is adequately cooled (not to mention the MOSFETs) - AFAIK, the socket itself (the plastic part) start burning at 2.6v.
I am going to do this mod to my NF7-S. A couple questions:
1) Which way is the vreg chip facing? What I want to know is, is pin 7 on the I/O side of the board (the PS2 ports, etc), or the socket side?
2) I will be using a 10K VR (20 turn). Any idea of how much that will give me? I don't want to kill my CPU! :eek: (and thats assuming the board would survive some insane voltage)
I will be doing this is an experiment to see if I can fix the high fsb/vcore problem (I want 2.1v-ish @ 266FSB :D), not because I need more than 2.3v.
If you look at the board pin 1 is designated by a dot on the Vreg, so pin 1 is lower right when the board is in the case. Then you count anti-clockwise 1-20.

Im not sure what the max voltage you can get will be, if you disable the OCP then you may get more than 3v...

I did it for this very reason before and it doesnt work. :(

I always thought that when there is a Vsen pin available, that is where you want to attack your VR..?
It shows on the data sheet that Vsen (pin 10) connects directly to the cpu core voltage. Do we use FB pins on most mods because it connects to the internal error amplifier?
Is there anyone with the mod working??
If so please post it here. I want to do the mod on my board a but i don’t want to kill it because it is my only board right now so killing it means no pc 4 some weeks.

For the Vcore for the NF7 boards, you have to mod Pin #7 with a 50/100k VR. Sometimes you have to mod #10 as well since it is Vsen/OVP.
You dont have to mod #10 unless you have issues over 2.1v or so.
If you have to mod #10 as well, just mod it as usual and lower the resistance a bit at a time until you get #7 mod where you want it.

emmm if dont.... and if u willing to mess up with bios
i can give a try vcore mod from bios... if there is no hardware limitation it should work
can u give me ur email... i will give 1 sample D22 bios with vcore up to 2.5V 1st if not enough later i mod it again

Just did the Vcore mod (I needed to do pin10 also to avoid OVP). Worked great and Vcore @ 2.33 now.

tictac, unfortunately a bios mod will not fix the vcore issues with the NF7 due to OVP.
However, as mentioned above you can mod pins 7 and 10 to achieve just about all the vcore you can withstand.

Anyone have a picture of the chip and the pin to mod? I also need to do this mod. Im going to Radioshack to get some resistors for my volt mods :)
Here ya go, straight out of the Guide that MrIcee wrote. You can either get to it through the Motherboard Vmods Forum or here is the link straight to the GUIDE he wrote about it. It is the same mod for the NF7 as far the Vcore is concerned. Check the "Sticky" that has to do with vmodding the Abit boards that was posted by him.
