GTZ or wait for Dtek 1366?

man...what a wait. I'm planning on finishing my new i7 build in 2 weeks, and the only thing really holding me back from completing my full system is the mounting for the D-Tek Fusion V2. What in the heck is taking so long!?

So, I'm contemplating just spending the money and buying the Swifttech GTZ with the widely available 1366 mounting plate.

I read some performance reviews on the GTZ...so far pretty impressive..on par if not better than the DTek.

Anyone thinking the same thing here

BTW: I just purchased the DetroitAC pump top for my pump. Had no idea such things existed. Breathing new life in to my pump.

IMO the GTZ has prove itself has a top notch CPU block with great support for Socket 1366 and simple as pie retention mechanism.
I don't see any reason why wait for Dtek to wake up and release an adapter which can take up forever.
The Supreme is also a nice option, I just had excellent results with the GTZ so I will highly recommend it.

thanks for your opinions! I am actually now eyeing the Koolance 350...impressive. I always thought of Koolance as being rather...:banana::banana::banana::banana:ty...but. ..reading some recent reviews compared to the GTZ..its rather impressive.

I'm playing with the idea...GTZ or Koolance 350...I've never tried a Koolance product.

Have you already got the motherboard for your system? If not, don't forget that the foxconn bloodrage does support 775 mounting options.

Then again - the bloodrage is almost as hard to get as the non-existant Dtek mounting kit...

Don't wait for the Dtek....Lynnfield will be out and you'll still be waiting. :)

honestly, i'd pick up the GTZ.

the GTZ mounting mechanism is great, the koolance-350 is a great block, but is slightly more restrictive and the mounting mechanism isn't as good. the GTZ mount creates even pressure, and is about the same every single time; other blocks/mounting mechanisms aren't quite as consistent; and i believe even Dean from koolance said

These are the tests that help us improve our blocks. What I want is verification of the results and identification of all the variables and their values. Bowed blocks and micro-grid arrays can be pretty complex, as both Gabe and Stephan know, in terms of "best mount, lowest temperatures".

Just as an FYI i've had as much as 1.6v through a q6600 and 1.55v through my i7 920 and temps are still under 60c. The GTZ is a great block, with a great mounting system.

I've got tired of waiting on Dtek, got a GTZ

me2. My original plan was to get the DTek block, but I was forced to order the GTZ. I'm starting to believe the 2nd comming of Christ will happen before we see LGA1366 mounting hardware. We heard a few words right around i7 release time about them, but nothing since. Others have sent e-mails, and no responce yet last I heard.

There are other mounts, but after looking at them I like the GTZ's mounting and backplate so much I just went with it. It was a no brainer for me. Screw the things down until they bottom and you have perfect pressure. The backplate is made correctly too so it doesn't put pressure on the back of the socket but still supports the board. It rests flat up against the board as it should.

I own three FuZion v1 blocks and they have performed very well on three of my crunchers. But on my main rig I run a GTZ and have been quite impressed with it. The temps are great and the hold down kit is the best that I have used making for an easy, quick, secure mount.

The EK Supreme was the other block I considered when I purchased mine and both are stellar blocks.

Hey thanks everyone for their thoughts. Yea...D-Tek is really missing out on this right now...I don't know what is going with them...strange.

Guess I'll go with the Swiffy...I've had 5 of their heatsinks/blocks before...I'm sure they won't let me down this time either.

I'd love to try out that Koolance 350..but for roughly 80 bux and up...simply "trying" out the 350 block is too expensive...and also yes I did notice the restrictiveness of the block...my systems is being built for high flow....GTZ should fit nicely.

Btw Is there anyone that have an update on the mountings form D-tek?

I cant wait any longer ordering a GTZ... :shakes:
