AMD Phenom II X4 940BE + GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-DS4H Benchmark Session Air Cooling

Currently i'm waiting for GA-MA790-UD4H board from GIGABYTE to testing retail Phenom II X4 940 BE, for a mean while in order to make my CPU a little bit "warm", i used the previous version of AMD 790GX chipset from GIGABYTE, GA-MA790GP-DS4H.

Very nice. Was this on 32-bit I'm guessing? Cinebench seems low if it's 64-bit.

What cooler were you using, thermal interface matirial, fans, open stand or in a case and what case, and what temps were you getting at stock, and your diff voltage increases?

We have been over this VCore deneb "issue" 100 times before.This chip is not done on intel highk/mg process.This chip doesn't behave the same way as intel 45nm chips. 1.6V is not the "scary" value since default Vcore for Deneb/Shanghai is 1.35V.It may seem high for default vcore but it's just how 45nm SOI works for AMD(and boy it works well). 1.6V is 18% over default,while AMD lists (officially) a 1.55V as a max value for air.

That's cool. I didn't see that anywhere. I feel better now. I always feel guilty juicing the B3s to 1.5 volts (not really :rofl:).

So I guess we'll really be able to run our systems at high speed 24/7 as long as we can cool them. That is really nice....

BTW, Benny, what kind of temps were you seeing during load?

Yes the temps should be monitored and kept as low as possible.Phenom IIs love cold more than voltage,so if one can invest in some good wc setup it could be a very good option.

Finally someone testing on air with high hypertransport.

Since you seem to be the only one with it so high, Do you think you could test some games with it high and with it lower like 2.0-2.2 to see if there's a difference.

I already mention it before. The cooler is Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme with Delta 3000 rpm fan, no case. For temps, i still confuse. AOD and BIOS report 30 degree both idle and full load :shrug:, so i think is not correct. Still digging to find out whats wrong with temps report.

hey there, I'm also using a TRUE 120 extreme with 2 S-Flex's i'm at 3740 @1.425v with 2400 on the NB. I cant get 4ghz no matter how hard I try. 1.6v still seems kinda high for air since you're probably Topping in the Low / Mid 60's?

yeah once you hit above certain voltage point the chip won't get in to windows.

I've gotten up to about 3,885mhz into windows. Keeping the chip cool seem to the best way to go.
