Yep. I really can't wait to see what kind of ppd these monsters get :)
DO NOT WANT.
After looking at the performance, its great for folding (think two gtx280s), but if you plan on gaming with it, eh. The support is going to be horrible, so I wouldn't bother.
I'd get dual cards or something IMO.
?????what's gaming????
What is this "Gaming" you speak of?
All work and no play.
:shakes::shakes::shakes::shakes::shakes:
Games, you ask?
I heartily recommend FC2. LOL What a BLAST!
No data yet even at F@H. I'm wrestling with the decision right now. The original and common sense plan was to put 3 of my 9800 GX2s in my I7 build.
And now it's 2 of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130439
Or one of those and 2 of these... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227360
3 of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127361 and 2 solid state disks?
If I went the common sense route with my 3 9800 GX2s I could get 3 solid state disks and have money left over.
Round and round the tequila bottle spins. Where she'll stop nobody knows.
Straight off the Fah Forum some results boys and girls....
"I have two GTX295's installed in my machine. The first two GPU's on the first slot card work fine and I was able to get them going lickity-split last night with F@H v6.23. They worked overnight producing 61 WU's and 3072 points. FahMon 2.3.4 is estimating 14,271ppd for those two cores."
With an overclocked quad and setup like that, you are looking at, what, 900-1000 watts drawn from the wall? It's great performance, but isn't the power used going to offset that?
yeah, 2 9800gx2's would kick it's butt..
From every thing I've heard the 295's use less wattage than a 9800gx2 by a good margin.
yeah, but doesn't the gx2 produce like 10K ppd for one card.... so a 2 card system would be 20K ppd just on the gpu's...
I just ordered one $250 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143128
wiki has
the gtx295 listed at 289w tdp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce...hnical_Summary
and the gx2 at 197w tdp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce...Specifications

Yep, but this guy is saying 14k+ Total for ONE 295. Further info there is that he is having trouble getting the other working.
I have to overclock quite hard to get 11K total from a gx2. I'm not sure what 197w relates to but I see no more than 150-160w change max between idle and folding both sides of gx2.
ahh, I thought he meant 2 cards, I didn't realize the 295 had 2 cores per card... shows how much I've been following nvidia's new stuff. it's way overpriced for me $500..
The 9800gx2 came out at about the same price and droped to 300$ within what, a month or two? So I'm thinking the 295 will do about the same thing.
If it does then I'll get a couple, till then, like Mike said $500 is too expensive (at least for me)
Yeah I think 500$ is to much but its better than what every one was thinking it would come out at (600$+)
GT300 sooner or later. That'll be money. ;)
My wallet hurts just thinking about GT300....
Clearly I didn't have enough tequila before placing my order. If I had I would have gone with the 2 GTX 295s. Instead I went with 3 solid state drives and a mobo for my Phenom 9600.

The mobo will handle my 4 9800GTS cards and should allow 50K+ ppd for 2 rigs. :p: Hopefully that will curb the "Green" penalties I'm paying for living in California. Knowing me I'll still fire everything up for races and kill my budgeting.
