JETWAY AM3 board 940 pins available now

Look what showed up on the egg. An AM3 ddrII board ;)

Look like there is one other possibility that we did not consider........AM3 boards using ddrII....No mention of compatibility with AM2+ but it does utilize socket 940......

Jetways site itself. Forward and backwards compatible it appears, supports am2/am2+/AM3 but it is indeed DDRII only.

It appears what i was told by AMD at the boston event was true........after all he never said that am2+ would work with ddr3 he just said AM2+ would work fine in AM3......

AM2/AM2+ CPUs cannot put into AM3 socket.
(this was my mistake, it should be "future AM3 CPU may not fit into the AM2+ socket boards", sorry for confusing you guys!)

Wow bad heatsink setup....horribly bad the mosfet coolers seem to be vga memory heatsink like.

Not even sli or crossfire capable at 2.0 x16 each. This board seems like the most depressing am3 start if it is indeed am3. The other one we've seen from ECS seemed better but still not good enough.

isn´t every am2+ board an am3 board when it has the proper agesa support in bios?
lol.. seems like this is an old sb600 board... they just want to sell it as something new because it´s supporting am3 cpus

No offense intended, but I thought the whole point of AM3 boards was DDR3 support... I hope this doesn't mean that true AM3/DDR3 boards will actually have 938 pin sockets and won't allow AM2+ chips. :(

The next few months are definetly going to be interesting on the Mobo front....

Well it was kind of assumed that it would support ddr3...He never claimed it would work with DDR 3 he just claimed it was forward compatible with AM3 motherboards which was conflicting with current roadmaps.

It may or may not be compatible with ddr3, still don't have that info but this is good news for people who plan on buying am2+, they can still upgrade to one variant of AM3 and possibly newer chipsets ( speculative on newer chipsets of course ) etc they are not stuck completely with the current board offerings for the phenom II.

These 2 boards already existed...They are both AM2+ boards, but recently "AM3 CPU Ready" has been added to theri specifications, due to new BIOS version that makes the AM3 cpu's ready to run on these boards...

The first one you posted though from newegg.com, seems to be a new product if the product name is correct...It doesn't appear on any Jetway Website though...

It could be a new model...It looks like a mix of HA04 and HA03-Ultra, with the specs of the first...if you look closer you can see HA04-LF, right under the SB :

But getting a new 790FX board with SB600, would not be that smart by Jetway, don't you agree ?

Maybe its' the SB750 version of the HA04 and the SB600 is just a typo...

Who knows...maybe someone can contact newegg for further info...

People can still get AM3 cpus in their existing AM2+ boards i guess...

I'm not sure I just know i was working on a shopping list and when i clicked on motherboards the AM3 tab option appeared with 1 board. First thing i looked at was closeup of the socket...........

Did a little more investigating and found this in the am2/am2+ selection.

Replaced by JHA04-LF

Also, AM3 Ready doesn't mean the socket is AM3.
It simply means "AM3 compatible".

Maybe they release info in a while...but i have a feeling it's just the SB750 version of HA04 (cutting cost from fancy heatpipes and adding the SB750)...


Edit : Again looking at the price...the Xtreme cost $139.99 and this one only $99.99 ....maybe the SB600 is correct....790FX & SB750 should have higher price normally...

How about linking the source of your information that the SOCKET will have one pin less..........

We all know the cpu has less pins, there are many sources for that........

Jetway announced an HA04 Ultra (SB750) a couple of months ago, but it never seemed to pop up at any retailers.

BTW, I've got an HA04 Extreme sitting here if anyone's interested.:D

let me try to explain again
I mean

AM3 SOCKET has one MORE pin reserved for future purpose.
The coming AM3 CPU won't utilize that pin so it can plug into the AM2/AM2+ board.

But that extra pin will be utilized some days later I believe,
so if that's the case, the future AM3 CPU may not be able to plug into a board with AM2 SOCKET.

Hope this time I've made it clearer. :)

I have the sample board,
I took a picture to show the extra pin hole of the socket. ;)

AM2+ CPU supports DDR2,
AM3 CPU supports both DDR2 and DDR3, at least true for this moment.

so, the true AM3 socketed board should have 941 pins.
that's what I wanted to talk about.

that is a pure DDR3 socket AM3 board, just a sample.

if that one pin hole is the only difference then a AM2+ chip should fit making the Jetway still possible. Of course, that would depend on what that extra pin does :D
