What to do on a boring snowday

Was bored and had some projects in the works, So i tackled them. I should be ready for phenom 2 soon.

Sorry about the cruddy pic's , didn't feel like setting up the tripod, lighting and backdrop.

They aren't finished product's and i'm still waiting on some stuff. The assembled pot is going to get a 1/8x1 1/2" slug brazed to the base. Pot is 2 1/2" diameter. Lapped the base just to get it flat.

Pot 2 will be a tad taller, No pinned internal but with a 1/4"x1 1/2" slug at the base. I obviously still have to hit them with some high grit paper still

I filled in the NIBCO stamp a little while i was at it, It will be covered by the solid round stock and filled in the rest of the way when i finish it.

It will do the trick but where is the mounting mech please show us and you should lap it some more

Mounting and insulation is next on the list and is rather simple. The lip on the cap is sufficient enough, I use heavy duty plastic cutting board front and back mounting plates with armacell sandwiched in between.

As far as lapping well the CPU pot needs to have a base brazed on it, lapping with 1000 grit or higher would be pointless if i plan to emory cloth the bottom and braze a solid 1 1/2" x 1/8" solid stock to the bottom.

What do you use to clean your pots??

2000 grit wet sand, they arent even close to clean right now.I only hit them with 800 just to scuff them up a bit, this was used tarnished copper originally save the NB pot i'm making.

The inside you can clean with a silver polish method. Baking soda and vinegar IIRC. Rinse thourougly with hot water than take a blow dryer and heat it up really hot to evaporate any leftover water to avoid corrosion.

nice work man! love to see the homebrew stuff! How is this design compared to a semi solid or solid copper pot?

You lose a little with brazed parts but it's negligible when you figure in the dollar figure......You can compensate for mass as i did and plan to do by adding mass. This unit will likely do -70 ( being conservative ), my original design did about -65 had less mass and had a wider, very short pinned insert versus this design, It also lacked the base that I'm adding. A really good unit with DI can do like -90 or possibly lower.

I didnt see a C next to my numbers ;)
Its sublimation and deposition point is -78.5 °C (-109.3 °F).

Hmmm time to update.....

Not the cleanest mounting kit I have ever made but it's done. Just need to drill socket am2 mounts tommorow, don't feel like downing the rig just yet. Compatible with 775/939 for now.
