if 1.95v doesn't crack the chip, don't be a puss at 1.4v already. come on, even when 90nm was mainstream people were saying 1.55v was the absolute max while others were happily applying 1.65v on air for years. besides it's clear that this chip is DIFFERENT from intel chips so that perspective does not apply.

It's just being used to intel's side of things and that in general the more you shrink a cpu nm wise the less voltage can be applied.

Have to wait to hear what amd says for max voltage though.

I wonder what's max stable frequency of this one and how much voltage is needed? I'm not asking for screenshots, just wanna know what sort of clocks we are to expect for everyday use: 3.7, 3.8 or ...?

I was at the AMD PII demo is boston, and for air cooling, 1.55v is safe (with obviously good aircooling). One of the demo machines with the STOCK amd heatsink could take 1.55v. The side panel of the case was opened though. Temps were still very acceptable too (under 50°C). This machine was OC'ing to around 3.8Ghz stable. Mind you this was with the stock heatsink. Strap a TRUE and a good fan on there and...

The phase change machine was easily stable at 4.8Ghz, with 1.45v! Temps about -35 IIRC.

For LN2 macci was using 1.9-1.95v for 6Ghz numbers.

so there you have it. safe volts on air up to 1.55v, like was *consensus* with 90nm.
