Looks like aluminum to me (I'd imagine a plate of copper that large wouldn't be cheap or cost efficient for Asus) and you can also see some of the 'copper finish' worn off from the heatsink that was on top.

Pretty sure it's copper. The patch that looks discolored, looks like it was from the thermal paste.

No, it is aluminium.

Nice idea of Asus to put a plate on the mainboard where you can then add a cooler of your choice.
Get's in line and waits until they are avalaible.
On another topic, Eddy will you be making blocks also for the MSI Eclispe and a question about the S1366 mount for the Supreme, I see the mounting plate in your shop, but will there be a backplate?

Bei's NB/SB combo going out to vendors today or tomorrow i think. My mosfet blocks should also hit vendors the same time as well.

i for one was never a fan of putting a block ontop of a copper plate...

what scares me is i think i can guess....
your gonna make a top, with a oring seal, and turn that plate into a waterblock arent you?

Interesting as i was about to ditch my p6t 0c palm for the giga extreme with built in block. I may just keep it now because i kinda like the palm tool for temps while gaming. I must search for a northbridge block!

I realise this thread is rather old but I'll just go ahead and ask anyway.
Will this solution decrease your NB temps? And perhaps mosfet etc also?
Or do you think the 2 92mm fans on the TJ07 is enough to get good cooling of the MB components?

Just my personal opinion, but for the P6T Deluxe V2 and similar boards I think adding a motherboard full coverage water block along with MOSFET water blocks is a waste of time and money. They simply don't get hot enough to require water cooling even with the most extreme overclock. When water cooling, simply add the supplied ASUS fan to the main MOSFET heat sink and a separate 40mm fan on the supplied standoffs to the main motherboard heat sink as per the instructions in the motherboard manual. This is sufficient to keep them cool.

Mosfets get hot with high overclocks, the NB/SB do not. Of course this all depends on what you consider hot. On my REII with the stock cooling my NB would hit 60c plus and my mosfets were hot to the touch. Water cooling it with a simple block on the NB stock heatsink dropped the temps to the low 40's. A lot will do it for looks, but I think it does help.

Yes, that would be an option. But i do like my rig to be quiet, so I rather not have the fan there.

Did it reduce mosfet temps also?
And do you think it would be same on the P6T deluxe as on the REII?
What blocks would be suitable for the P6T deluxe?
