True
The TRUE is ready to go and Noctua is making brackets for their existing coolers that will fit the 1366 sockets
What about Zalman 9700nt? That's an awesome cooler and I want it to 1366 socket..
The Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (TRUE) is NOT currently compatible, they do not ship with the bracket required (even the new copper version does not) and the bracket is not for sale anywhere as of this writing.
The only aftermarket HSFs available right this moment are the Dynatron which is a horizontal unit that doesn't look much better than the stock cooler, and the Nexus FLC-3000 which I just received. The FLC-3000 looks marginally better than the stock Intel cooler but it's a serious pain in the ass to mount, and it does not include a backing plate for LGA1366 so it may distort the motherboard. There are LGA1366 backing plates available but they won't work with the FLC-3000.
Ironically, there IS a good water cooling block available for LGA1366 from Danger Den. Odd that water cooling should actually be out ahead of air cooling for once.
Presumably we will see more HSFs on Monday. Honestly I'm very displeased at the slow reaction by the various vendors, particularly Thermalright and Zalman. With the LGA775 launch, Zalman had mounting clips in stores well before motherboards were available.
Aha, Sidewindercomputers just got the Thermalright brackets in. Knew that was coming but didn't want to say until I got my order in, supply is short :)
get the foxconn blood rage it uses 1366 and 775 mountings
Thanks for the information . I guess I'll wait and see what comes out over the next few days. I 'm not much on water cooling , I've often wanted to try it but you might say I'm kinda scared that I'll screw up some expensive hardware not knowing how to install a water cooling system.
cooler master V8 is available on lga 1366 (not sure if i understood correctly "aftermarket")

some never heard cooler :D
Zalman is releasing the CNPS9900 for socket 1366 soon

"The New Zalman CNPS9900 LED heatsink is finally available. Zalman are back with a quiet 782gram all copper heatsink. The CNPS9900 contains 6 heatpipes, one 120mm illuminated fan that spins at 1000-2000RPM, and is compatible with socket 775/1366 and AM2+/939. "
FYI: I use a PAIR of the Dynatron H46G's on my dual harpertown(yorkfield) rig
I pull the factory fans and with a 10 min mod use 80mm Vantec tornadoes on them.
At 100% load at 3600mhz they run at 51C in a 72F room.

It would be nice if Zalman released a new mounting bracket and backplate for the 9700NT. Don't need a long term solution and don't want to buy a new cooler for temporary use. Something better than stock air cooling would be appreciated.
Will the below work with my Ultra Extreme I already own on 1366 or must I use the kit from Thermalright?

It's out of stock everywhere I try to get it.
no i will not if you read exactly what it is, it's a replacement for stock cooler stuff :

This kit should be a direct replacement for the stock 1366 Intel CPU Cooler pushpin setup.
I found the Cooler Master V8 at Buy.com. Yesterday it was $59.99 plus shipping. Now its up to $63.XX plus shipping.

The Noctua NH-U12P (made in Austria) is supposed to be crazy quiet and cools almost even to the TRUE and better than 99% of other coolers. I got one and then ordered the 1366 bracket kit seperately.
Any reasonably priced LGA 1366-compatible coolers?
Not looking to spend $70 on an air cooler, especially when I already have a perfectly good xigmatek S1283 right here, just unfortunate that it is not compatible.
I can get a TRUE for $40-50 but then there is the 1366 mounting brackets that are nowhere to be found.
I bought the ( Noctua NH-U12P ) and thus far have been really impressed with it except for the fact that it hits my 120 mm fan on the side panel of my case. Idle temps with a room temp of 21C is around 35C. I highly recommend this cooler but be aware of the size.
True, Thermalright doesn't have this bolt-thru-kit on Newegg at the time of my posting, and its already a hot seller on Scan.
Looks decent but it doesn't seem to be any cheaper than the Ultra 120 EX anyway.
I broke down and bought the Ultra 120 EX 1366 from ncix, came out to $81 shipped.....can't believe I spent that much on an air cooler, but there isn't much choice I suppose. The Coolermaster V8 is available for $70 shipped at Directron, but it is not clear whether or not it has the LGA 1366 brackets in the box.
Plenty of Thermalright LGA1366 Bolt thru kits in Australia it seems!
Got mine :)
