For people that had this happen, clean the base up and get the copper top. Had the same thing happen to me months ago and to my surprise Swiftech actually contacted me offering to exchange for another aluminium top. I refused and went for copper instead at a discount for my trouble. Needless to say my loop has been crystal clear since then.

It's a GTX and you are getting a GTZ which does not contain aluminium so do not fret :)

That isn't even a bad one for the GTX, I've seen bad from my own experience and believe me if it had looked that good I wouldn't have gotten excited about it. Just lick the green crap out and slap it back together!

the anti corrosion components that make up your typical additive (pc water cooling or automotive) get consumed in the process of preventing corrosion. a chemical engineer, surely there is one kicking about here, will be better able to explain the process. They won't protect a mixed metal loop forever.

septim wasn't being serious, they were having a dig at Swiftech. Swiftech will not honour warranty for any products suffering from such corrosion if you don't use their proprietary HydrX anti-corrosion additive, because of course (and as you said), that's going to completely solve the issues here.

Hydrx does solve the issue. When I used the aluminum top for the ttwo to three months that I had the block before the ocpper top arrived, Hydrx worked. For every one crap story, there are hundreds of success stories never shared.

Show me an instance where Hydrx was used (nt PC Ice, not Feser, not G11, not whatever else... Hydrx), as per SWFT's instructions, and that corrosion crap occurred.

That actually doesn't look like corrosion, it looks like too much UV Dye or some other additive.... I would be interested in seeing what the block looked like once cleaned to see if there are any signs of wear on the top.
