Vista?
yes
I had a similar problem. Q9450 rock stable at 3.8~9, could go 50 passes of IBT stable, but SPi would "stop working", to quote the vista window, on anything 1M or higher. THis was on 790i ftw.
Now I have same chip on EP45 UD3 and I've been able to bench SPi at 4.2 at unstably low volts...
I've no clue what this was. both were on vista x64.
Use XP for Superpi. :p:
higher QPI voltage helps me for 1M stable test, but longer still no go ... will try it on XP damn, i have noit XP installed ... :shakes:
Try disabling the Windows Audio service. This is a well known bug in Vista. Attached are the .bat files I use to simplify the process, I have never yet manged to get SPi working on Vista with the sound enabled.
HyperPI works nice also, has a check box to disable audio and will run multiple instances for you.
sweet disabling audio with that batch got me a better 1M score ;)
guys it's the audio service
what i do is i'm too lazy to change it on all the laptops i test at work that have a ram install so i just start the app and start 32M run and when i get the START screen i move the screen to the top right corner of the screen and start the calculation.........it never freezes oddly enough :D
Lol, cheers mate going to have to try that. You should write a quick batch command like I did, just takes two double-clicks to bench then.
THANKS to all, disabling HD Audio device (i have noaudio device installed) solved my problems!
