EP45-UD3P Problem Please Look

Hey guys,
Tonight I was trying to install my E8400 and Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer onto the EP45-UD3P and came into a huge problem. The clip-ons on the heatsink will not fit anyway onto the motherboard because of the heatsinks that surround the CPU. I managed to fit the cooler after lots of cussing and getting pissed off...:p: but get this:

The clip on the Sunbeam CCF cooler is "under" the blue part of the heatsink on the board (it was the only way to attach the cooler) but it is sort of pulling the whole "ultra durable" heatsink from the board up a little bit so there isn't a full contact to whatever the blue "ultra durable" heatsink is cooling. Should this be of concern or do you think it'll be fine?

Can't fire up the PC yet because I'm still waiting on the PSU. Sorry for the bad explanation of my problem, i'm just pretty ticked off right now!:wth:

Yeap, they can overheat quickly, even burn out. They can also get chipped or crack by the unequal pressure of the heatsinks.

That's fantastic news!!!:D:mad:!!! I mean the blue heatsink on the mobo isn't like lifted off the mobo but I can push it down a little bit with little pressure. Man...this sucks. Is there anyway to monitor the temp?

Be careful. The "ultra durable" sink needs to cool whatever is under it (mosfets probably, I don't have the board yet).

Not exactly sure what the interference is but, can you modify the mounting clamp of the cpu heatsink so it does not interfere with the blue sink?

PS - maybe you can modify the blue sink to make your cpu cooler fit....but at least test the board first....modding sink might void rma/warranty....maybe test the board with stock intel heatsink first?

thats not good, I say try it with the stock cooler to make sure the board works, then if it does, mod the blues sink so it dont interfere like cut a tiny piece of etc.

Damn, might just return the heatsink then and get a different one...el pissed off!!:D:mad:

why not rotate the cpu heatsink?? as I understand you're putting it now horizontally - try vertically

EDIT: ok, looked at the pic in hte 1st post, seeing now - NB heatsinks.... ;)

Yup won't fit either way. I've taken it off and put a 65nm stock heatsink on the chip for now, should cool a bit better than the new microscopic 45nm coolers lol. Guess I'll be looking at a Xigmatek S1283 with the retention kit.
