Basically I want to water cool the north bridge, but I don't know what block would fit it. I would also like to water cool the south bridge, but is that necessary and recommended?

1. Leave the SB alone, it doesn't even get hot
2. Many coolers fit the NB, personally I am using an old Alphacool SNB-A I had lying around - cooling the NB with water is a good idea, since it needs to stay cool for high OCs
3. If you are running a highly OCed Quadcore (and only then) you might consider cooling the PWMs with water, too. The stock PWM sink is exceptionally good, and only needs improvement for 200W+ CPUs (like mine -.- )
PWM blocks are made by mips, as well as a matching NB block (a little expensive though)
Here is my LT X38 (layout identical to the X48):

Ignore the CPU cooler, my phase unit was down when the picture was taken...
Andreoid (An-Fi Tech) makes a full set of blocks for the DFI X48! :)

the mcw30 is working great for me

When you guys mean the mcw30, do you mean the swiftech mcw30?
If I do get the mcw30, does the stock mounts work or I have to buy myself another mounting equipment?
I'm using the Danger Den MCP chipset base on mine, but made my own custom top for it.

This allowed complete coverage and a nice straight layout, although I think a regular universal covers the core area fine.

A bit of off topic question. I'm a bit worried about the south bridge seeing how tall it's heat sink is. Is there a problem if I install a 4870x2 on the pci-e slot that's right next to it?
Also, if I do decide to water cool the south bridge, does that mean it would obstruct the 4870x2? Is it possible to have 4870x2 in crossfire on this board?
NaeKuh, I was wondering, is that an after market HSF that you're using for your south bridge? If yes, think you can tell me where I can get it?
liquid on the SB is worthless for the intel platform it just dosnt put much heat out, and the SB HS dosnt seam like it would interfere its slotted do cards can go through it
the x38/48 lt/ut are electrically identical, so any block for one will work on the other
I bought an EK NB/SB-5 for my LT X48's NB.... only to realise after putting on 1/2" tubings (3/4OD), I can't get worm-clamps on both fittings.... zzzz.
I wish Eddy would make blocks for the LT X48 NB such that it fits squarely on and can use 3/4 OD tubings.... :(
u have to use zip ties, same with the dtek
i cant think of any normal NB blocks that u can use drives or clamps and full size tubing
the mcw30 works fine... with stock hardmount
