Nl11f Ss :)

Hello

I want to present SS in silver case 490x210x230mm with Danfoss NL11F compressor and R507 freon :). Nothing fancy, just cased and small SS :D.

Specs (final) :

Compressor: Danfoss NL11F
Evap: steeper 42mm diameter, braided DN10 suction flex hose
XV: captube 0.8 mm
Condensor: Unseen BIG cube, with 120x38 mm Delta 12V plus 120x25 mm pushing fan
Refrigerant : R507
Case : Custom, metal case 49 x 21 x 23 cm, painted on metalic silver
Others: Tt Thunderblade on the back of case (with LEDs removed), blue CCFLs inside case, sound insulation, Eliwell EM300 temperature display, plexi window in case.

That condenser is huge. Looks quite nice. Good job.

Man, that condensor is the way of the future for efficiency in CPU phase change cooling...I wish I had a whole pile of them. :up:

I'd order one from Unseen right now but it would take a while to get here and the exchange rate sucks for the dollar right now...oh well...off to eBay I go for the big and beautiful. :D

I don't like it too ;) so it's rebuilded right now (I mean builded again) :D.

Looks quite cramped in there, doesn't seem to be the greatest design in terms of air flow

It may be cramped but the lack of space will force the push & pull fan set up to course air over the entirety of that compressor after it leaves the condensor....that should create some excellent cooling for that compressor even though the air will be moderately warmed by the condensing process. I would expect to see better performance from this unit over a similarly sized unit with a “standard condensor” (i.e. little blue).

I would have simply gotten a slightly longer case, that condenser is going to be hurt bad by those 25mm fans.

Yes guys I know that air recyrculation isn't strong side of this unit, yes case should be longer, but in that case won't fit such good under midi tower PC case :D. I must use some tricks to fit all stuff in this case - even I must cut a bit plastic electric cover of compressor :ROTF:.

One of fan is already changed to 120x38 mm ....DELTA :D. Tomorrow You'll see some pics :) .

Good job Pio! Trick for you might be to move the back sides fan to the outside of the case if you haven't already, will buy you some room!

I want to check if suction hose lenght had been fine so I've fit LianLi case from vapoLS kit :)..just for try .

In this point SS has been rebuilded - new suction line braided hose, bigger suction line accumulator and finaly 120x38mm DELTA on condensor (will be regulated in near future) ;).

Till this time still with Tt Thunderblade but I've found that this fan isn't strong enounght to pull air thought such thick condensor . :shrug:

That's on 225W .

I've checked that 260W is bit too high for this unit , sth like 240W is max. On 260W dummyload unit was around -34*C but temperature wasn't stable .

But for nowadays CPU 225W is for sure enought, 260W is overkill, from I've checked mine dummyload 225W produce bit more heat than old HOT QX6700 @4.7 ghz 1.75V loaded :up:.

I love the case. But I definitley see air flow beeing a problem. why are u useing such a large contactor, why wont anyone listen to me about putting the drier at at least a 45degree angle so only liquid feeds out, and why are all you guys so bent on using danfoss compressors on everything?

CC, not to doubt ya, I know you know your stuff, but I have yet to find that 45 down helps at all. First few builds, sure did that. Then started testing, and no difference at all.

I went to school for refrigeration 4 3 years. Im second generation refrigeration maniac. My teachers told me so, my pappy told me so. will it work without being at an angle? yes. But wouldn't you rather do it the right way? every refrigeration system i work on, the designers go out of there way to position the drier this way. I think there may be something to it. But, I'm a nut about doing things perfect and by the refrigeration book. I figured you guys would want my input if i saw something wrong. If i saw someone i was training pipe a ss system like that, i would let it go and say "next time do it right", as long as it wasnt a cascade. This is because your right, its not a big deal on ss systems. Dont you guys want to build these things like perfesionals?

Sometimes it might seem that we aren't doing this professionally, we try and get the most out of what we got alot of the time. However when testing data shows something at our scale, or in our hands, we tend to go with it. However if we all did everything by the book in this world, we'd only have a few books, and for the most part we'd settle for what we have and not try new things, because well, it wasn't by the book.

in a small fridge angling down may help, but in the units you guys are making the mass flow rates and such make it more asthetics then a requierment.

its not that important in this aplication, its just how i was taught.

You are right, it does look more professional and I do agree about that, and in normal domestic refrigeration it is good & proper practise to do so.

For a cap tube to work there MUST be a LIQUID SEAL at the entrance. Especially @ start up this seal will be achieved quicker if the filter is angled down to let gravity flow the condensed refrigerant to the beginning of the cap tube to make the seal. Other wise the liquid line would need to fill to above the top of the cap tube,which would take more time.

With all the flood back and other problems I have a feeling most units are not tuned as well as most people think.

Any liquid refrigerant leaving the evaporator does no good as far as temperatures & capacity, except cause possible flood back problems.

Flood backs only a problem at idle, at a certain pressure and temp liquid will not always evaporate, especially if its touching only things that are at its evaporating temperature already, thus it travels until it does, any system with 0W load will floodback, it's that simple. Simply because it will cool everything down till then.
