Remember when "literally" meant... "literally" ?
To try and revive some conversation here with SF gone....
Who remembers the olden days ?
Back when "literally" literally meant "without exaggeration" ?
Now it seems to be getting perverted into exactly the opposite of what it means. What's the new definition, "a way to add drama and effect, an aggrandizing adjective" ?
And it used to be such a powerful word, what's the best synonym to use now ?
Then there's one of my favorite written phrases, "should of". I couldn't even figure out how this came to be that people got "of" confused with "have" until I realized that they were saying "should've" out loud and didn't even know what they were saying !
Of course, there's also "then" substituted for "than". How the heck did that one come about, I think people at least SAY the right word in conversation !
