Just got a vapochill off ebay for $400 and ordered the 775 kit from FrozenCPU. :D:D:D
I'm really excited to set it up!
Will post OC numbers and pics after setup

sweet! another phase changer ;)
Gonna use it on your q6600?
I'm looking forward to seeing those numbers. Welcome to the world of ice. :welcome:
Yes, it will be for my Q6600, i am hoping for 4.0 daily, and 4.5 or so bench stable
i dont think the vapochill will stand up to that heatload without some mods. AFAIK stock vapochills top out about about 180w and you will be putting out 200w+
my q6600 @ 4.5ghz so sisoft says 268w my modified vapo is much better setup for quad only been on r507 a day so still tuning -60c @2.4ghz atm
i think you will find the stock vapo will lose capacity under load @4ghz very quicklly.. then again it might be great
hmm, the Q6600 is a heat beast at 4 ghz
we'll see soon enough!
Phase comes tomorrow and the socket kit on thursday, so I have a day to do some oldschool socket 478 benches :)
gah those vapos are cheap this days ..sad that I have one europe vapo LS 4 sale
Vapo waiting for me at home!
775 kit comes tomorrow :-D
congrats! :cheer:
Grab yourself an E8400 or E8500 and you'll be much happier with the speeds you can hit ;) Welcome to Phase Change, it only goes down hill from here
id really like 4.0 stable on this striker 680i board or on a 790i
btw sjg0, i've had a 805 back in the day! those were kickass processors
for sure, i had the hardest time upgrading from my 805, it ran so flawlessly at 4.1ghz!
I had great times playing CS Source and other OG games with that rig, D805 at 4.1, P5WD2-E Premium, and 6800Ultra (still have all the parts!)
anyway, still modifying my Stacker 830 case to mount the vapochill unit!
ok the phase is mounted and i got pics!
temps are at idle in the bios at stock clocks

sweet now show us some benches and temp shots from within windows
Those are some pretty damn nice numbers!
How did you insulate? did you grease up your board?
Also does that case naturally have a hole in bottom or did you drill a hole?
I willing to bet that you will have issues for 100% load 24/7 at anything above 3.8Ghz.
hes going to say no matter what the vapochill just cant handle a quad at those speeds, but rather than sit here an argue jump into windows and lets see some results!
Agree go with E8500 or E8400 (if your motherboard handle high FSB) , 4.7 ++ will be pretty easy with 1.4-1.5v , higher usually require a tone of volt , 1.6v++ for somehow stable 5 GHz+ . But i don't think that 45 nm can last long even with sub zero cooling with over 1.5v .
The clock in my sig, dos'nt bear that statement out. It's been running at 4.75ghz since January, and in fact will now run at 4.8ghz (so the cpu has got better over time).
The main things that kill 45nm's are high VTT voltage and anything other than stock PLL voltage. Mix those with high Vcore, and you have a recipe for death. High Vcore on it's own does not kill 45nm's.
