:) Hi there!
I plan to watercool the NB on this new motherboard.
Do you think something like Swiftech MCW-30 will fit on it?
I guess EKwaterblocks will get out some kind of special WB NB :rolleyes:
Will it be nice to WC this stuff beyond the Asus cooling system? Or will it be better to fully WC the motherboard (I've already got a MF1 full water, i don't really want to do such thing)

i had this same question too but it has not been answered. board is still too new for people to have already tried every NB water block to see compatibilities. you want to be the first to try it and let me know? :D
I already know that the NB is badly fixed :d
I'll try to do it but it seems the "axe" on MCW-30 is reallly short to fit.
I got the EK SB/NB block and a 780i NB block and i have that board too. I will try both out today :D I doubt the 780i NB will fit though. Will come back with results.

The Maximus II Formula has a different layout than the Maximus Formula. The first Mosfet cooler has a special layout and the NB has only 2 holes instead of 4.
You can email watercool (info@watercool.de) they're considering making blocks for the board if a few more people aks abou them (that's what they told me, a few more inquiries and they're making them).

Well the EK 5 SB/NB block doesnt fit, cant be bothered to return it. Rofl (It was way too big) And reading the info about the EK 6, it doesn't seem that would fit either. It needs something smaller, if only i had a ruler :P Hehe
But in the Bios it said my NB was 23 degrees, thats the stock cooler. Not OC'd though, i might just use the stock cooler :P

drats. what made it not fit? did the mobo's heatsink to the left get in the way? holes of the mobo too close together?
The bottom part of the block (Dont know what its called) Was way to big for the Northbridge. So the holes didn't align right. If only i can find the cable for my camera so i can actually show you. I can take pictures with my phone, but the quality is :banana::banana::banana::banana:ty :P
use a dremel to do some crazy XS style moding :up:

I found out... That the NB mouting on the heatpipe, is DIFFERENT then the actual northbridge. When i try to mount the NB Block on the heat pipe, its way to big. But when i removed the whole heatpipe, its way to small to fit. Weird!
Also, in order to mount the NB Block you have to disassemble the whole heatpipe because you need to get the screws to go from under the heatpipe. Weird.
and asus claimed this to be an easy WC solution of just taking out the stock NB sink. a few pics to show exactly what you said?

Don't forget to use some thin ring under the board, screws are too short. And you can also use some thermal pad (about +/-1mm) to avoid crushing the NB'core.

but how are you cooling the Mosfet but you still have the heatpipe still on? It looks like the NB Wterblock is mounted on the top of the heatpipe. Or did you remove the whole thing?

By the way, the copper that is in contact with the NB seems to go through the entire piece. It looks like this because when I push my 6 Ultra Kaze 2000, the temp' of NB goes with the SB's temp'. And the Mosfet radiators are "cold" too :D
