Asus Striker II Extreme: anyone running 8GB Ram successfully? + Watercooling problems

Hi,

i need a new MB and my decission was after much reading the Asus Striker II Extreme.

But then I found two major things who will let me think about it twice.

Some users in german forums reported, that 8GB Ram (4x2) is not running. So my Question is: anyone here with 8gb and no problems? (if yes: which ram ... :))

Second one is i read about problems to connect water cooling onto the motherboard, the user sayd, after the connect the tubes and fit the ...whats the english word :D handcuffs (i think :D) it was going leaky and water was comming out. So my second Question: did anyone here connect his water cooling system on the motherboard with success (or some special tips what to do to get no leaky...)?

I had some memory issues with earlier bios versions but now im running 0901 bios with 4 x 2 OCZ DDR3 1333 7-7-7 (pn:ocz3p13334gk)

the fittings that come with the fusion block are famously crap... Im replacing it with EK blocks as soon as I get my system stable

EK Blocks?

I have the same board. The problem with the block are the adapters that come with the MOBO are garbage. You can check the Asus forums in the US. Razzer is running 8GB of Patriot Viper 1600 @ 1600 successfully. Also, there's others (forgot the names), running 8GB of Corsair Dominator 1800 @ 1600 successfully too. That's what I am going for myself. Good luck!

scratch that... my OCZ ram is giving me grief, I cant get a clean memtest 2.01 with no overclock

OT: what iam realy wonder about the pictue above

the three GFX watercooled cards...

It looks like the water flow will go straight through the whole "left" side and then back on the right side?

That means for me, water will use the shortest way, the flow will be not realy through the GFX-Card-Coolers?


Should the Card-Coolers not be cross conntected??

the only way to the return line is through the water blocks, true the first one will get the most flow, but its a tradeoff... If you hook them up in series the water gets warmer as it is passed from one card to the next.

Im going to run some tests of 3 way sli in parrallel and series and post the results in the watercooling section soon... ill let you know the results

What's the fusion block like when using 3/8" tubing though? I'm aiming for 3/8 tubing on my future build and if possible I'd like to not have to change the NB block and heatpipe if need be as this is my first water cooling setup and going straight to full CPU/GPU/NB/SB/Mosfets seems a bit extreme :P

Iam not the REAL Waterproof, but my system is watercooled too and I will install next weeks to of the GX280 Babys.

And what Iam reading the last years ( I read a lot before i started with H2O) is, that its don't care, the water have, due the flow, the near same temperatur
in the circuit so there are no hot water from GFX1 to GFX2 and hotter one from GFX2 to GFX3... but with parallel install, the flow will have a negative impact to the GFX Coolers, due they dont will get right cooled.

Water takes ever the easyst way.

Once (if) I get my system running stable im going to run a comparison of S2E chipset cooling, Air V Fusion V Water blocks.... ill post a link here when im done.

Watercooling 3 way sli is still quite new... I use to run 2 8800s in series and notice about 5-10 degrees between my 1st and second card... That is why im really keen to do the series V parrallel test.

by the way, dont wory about your english... you would laugh harder at my german :D
