I was thinking about toying around with profiles files, where you can clearly set the fan mode/speed and frequencies for 2D and 3D. Though i ahevn't tried it...
Create a profile with Overdrive settings in it and go to:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE
Select that profile and edit it with Notepad. I've tried the fan settings and they work. Haven't tried the clocks though... 700/2300 is enough for me on stock heatsink...
Dang you got 1200 memory? I can bench at that but there are artifacts :(
Yes I tried editing profiles, doesn't work for clock speeds.
read the voltmod and bios section
Good things can be done. This is on 1.365v and water cooling

damn that looks nice, but I'm not sure I want to vmod my card, will there be any other way to raise the voltage?
pencil modding is pretty easy...but you can get 1.2v with a simple bios flash and that would allow you to go to 720-750
ohh ok, and will an S1 cooler be good enough or will I have to get something stronger like a vf1000 or watercooling?
I actually have a 6600gt right now, so I had no reason to mod my card until now since it wouldn't make a difference anyways, so still new to modding
So, can the stock fan be decent for overclocking once you turn the fan speed up in the config, or can the stock cooler fan even be turned up at all with the config file?
I edited my bios and it still didnt get my over 700, what did I do wrong? do I have to do it in something other than RBE?
disable overdrive in CCC before you flash.
That almost felt too easy... Alas, I have flashed like 20 times today, I'm going to stay at this setting until some software overclocking comes out.

I managed to reach 750/1150 myself. The mem did overheat eventually at 1200 so I cut back a little.
Mine was ati tool etc... stable at 1200 but firefly test and beyond in 3dmark06 would start artifacting every time.
shoudl this work for hd 4870 bios as well, did you guys overclock with a bios flash, thanks for the info.
i used the newest riva tuner and pencil mod. with a1 + turbo module + another 80mm and 120mm
