DDC-2 Mounting: Correct hole distance [Pic]

I am drafting a design for a DDC stand that I am going to make out of acrylic. I have gone to the Swiftech website and found the installation guide for some measurements. There is something that doesnt make sense to me, maybe you can help.

Description says 8mm holes 64mm apart. Diagram depicts 4mm holes 48.8mm apart.

Are these contradictory or am I reading this wrong?

I do not have the pump in front of me, and had planned on fabricating the stand at work today, so quick replies are appreciated!

It include detailed dimensions, enough to determine what you need. It's the one I used to design my 3 1/2" bay DDC mount.

Looking at those numbers, (even pulled my pump out of the box) I really don't see where they get either of those numbers.

The hole distance is 80mm. I know, don't belive me, well DB has proved it with his fan mod. And what do you know... :)

one thing that gets me about the DDc's is that neoprene gasket ,with the heat issue why do they stick it on a thick insulated pad ? & not have a better vibration solution that would address the heat issue that's a huge area that needs air to help cool the puppy & they waste the op to cool the pump with that pad , my DDC pump is gonna be be up in the air on vibration dampners on my newly modded test bed

The way the pump is designed, it doesn't need it. Just when we start adding 1+ pound res tops that it starts to have problems. :)

Or even brass tops. sheesh. talk about weight.

Going from the PDF and using Pythagoras theorem, I come up with 77.989mm. This is not to say an 80mm fan won't work, it just won't be at the center of the radii. ;)

I'll also mention here that the 4 holes that hold the top on happen to match up nicely (i.e. exactly) to 60mm fans.

Nice mounting idea i like it. I never noticed it matched like that, good find.

Here is my mount plate for the the dcc, below it is a 80mm to 60mm adapter that will house a 80mm fan. I will be using rubber grommets and the included foam pad to mout the pump to the metal plate. The holes in the plate match up with the center and 2 holes on the sides that the pad left uncovered. I will be cutting a hole in the included pad though to allow air flow to the center of the pump. Sorry don't have better pics its still a work in progress. So I can't say how well it will work yet, but from what I have learned at this site I belive it will perform well, and hopefully be quiet/vibration free.

Jeez, what were they smoking when they made this manual? I think my best bet is to put the pump up to the undrilled bracket, and mark where the flanges are.

@Waterlogged: your pump/res connecting method is very similar to what i had in mind for mine. Only problem is that I'm using the Swiftech microres, so the inlet and outlet are right next to each other; so my idea is that I have an elbow between the outlet of the res and inlet of pump. However, fitting that will be hard due to threading differences... wish i knew how to make my own fittings

edit: are G1/4" and 1/4" NPSM threads compatible? They are both parallel threaded, same size....

No, G 1/4 is 1/4 BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel) 19 threads / inch.

Is the 1/4 NPSM thread what the Swiftech Micro Res's use? If so then depending on how thick the thing your threading into, you can get away with it (like a thin piece of acrilic like the wall of that res). If Its too thick then the slightly different threads will start to prevent you from screwing in the barb/screw all the way.

The lengths we use on the fittings is short enough where you can mix them. What you really don't want to mix are NPSM/BSPP(G) with NPT/BSPT, that would just be asking for trouble.

That was exactly my problem I was having with the DDC. One of the things my bracket does is pick up the pump and allow air to circulate around it. Also since you use the stock rubber grommets vibration is reduced to almost nothing. You can also mount it in all sorts of funny ways if you want. Not trying to hijack your thread but I think my bracket solves most of your problems.
