D-Tek Fuzion V2 full review posted

Special thanks to Sidewinder and D-Tek for providing me with a sample. I put it through full pressure drop testing as well as thermal testing on my dual core processor.

Wow! the XSPC didn't do to bad either.

I find it odd that a nozzle didn't effect the V2 much at all.
Without reading the whole review yet, do you have an explanation for that?

Yeah, me too. I was going to run a bunch of nozzles, but the error in mounting makes measuring any of those differences very difficult with my particular processor and pump. I think single core, or quad cores, or strong pumps would see the biggest change.

The smaller nozzles would probably do well with dual pumps or Iwaki pumps, I would also guess the new quad midplate does well on a quad core.

I've got a quad coming which I plan to play make use of. The higher heat load of the quad will also make measuring differences a little easier I hope.

By chance are you also getting a Quad plate? That is what im most interested in seeing on a quad core, be interesting to see how well that does in comparison to other nozzles and other blocks on a Quad.

Yes I am. I'm sure since there was so much effort put into the quad plate, it's probably the best thing for a quad, but I havn't seen anyone post results yet.

A quad core processor is on the way. It'll be a couple of weeks before I get a few blocks done, but I will be doing some testing on that.

Several other forum members are also doing some quad core testing, so they'll probably have some results pretty soon.:up:

BTW, I got a new board, and am starting some testing tonight! So I will have my results up soon, testing with a quad core, I've got the quad mid plate too.

Not sure on the Supreme, I've never tried one thermally. I did manage to get a pressure drop test on one, but I didn't have my crystalfontz setup yet, so I wasn't able to test thermal. I think the microchannel blocks like the supreme are really good at quads.

I must be slow, I didn't have any that far off. My worst case was the V1 testing, but it was only a 1.95C delta. I think a majority of that is due to the mounting plate on V1 being loose, it's much more difficult to get the block level with the plate loose.

As far as the V2 results go, I tested three different configurations. Stock (5 mounts), Stock + Quad Nozzle (only 2 mounts before giving up), and Stock plus 4.5mm nozzle (5 mounts).

Mounting consistency was much better on the V2. Stock worst to best was only .58C.

How about that XSPC. It came up so close to the V2 in terms of performance, and yet according to your graph, it had by far the lowest pressure drop rate.

Yes it does, it is the block doing extremely well in both pressure drop AND thermal performance, it's an extremely nice block as well.:up:

BTW, someone wanted to see all the of the V1 and V2 nozzles overlaid, so I've updated the review with that. Unfortunately I'm not sure I believe the 5.5 and 6.3 results. I suspect the nozzles weren't sitting flush on the V2 tests. one thing I noticed in testing the V2 nozzles is just that...the mid block fits the nozzles fine, but V1 was more snug and kept the nozzle sitting down flush a little better.

Anyhow, here is that chart if you're a chart junky like myself. Generally the V1 vs V2 nozzle to nozzle performance is slightly more restrictive with the V2 and that difference diminishing as the nozzle size goes down. With the exception of the 5.5 and 6.3 results, I suspect the nozzles weren't seated just right.

Great review Martin, but... WOW, 3 full degrees improvement? Isn't that quite something? With that pressure drop I guess one has to put that thing in it's own loop, but hell isn't that what everybody in here recommends? So far, D-Tek really did accomplish something here. :up:
