Good batch number for the QX9650: L739A770
And that's about all I can give ya.
L740's usually suck with DI/LN2.
But they're pretty good for air/watercooling/single phase
Good chip : 744B159 : 3.6Ghz at 1.14 and 4ghz 1.25 Prime stable (under water)
Bad chip : 740B306 : 3.6Ghz at 1.26 and 4ghz at 1.39 Prime stable (under water)
Has anyone else got anymore batch numbers?
i'll get my QX9770 monday let you all know the batch # then i hear that the co is the bad & the c1 is the good batches
Average QX9770 : Batch L803B248
3.6Ghz at 1.19 Vcore (OCCT 2.0 1 hour stable)
4.0Ghz at 1.31 Vcore (OCCT 2.0 1 hour stable)
what do you mean by a CPU being a dog?
Prolly a bad clocker... though much is involved on which board you run it, user experience in settings, other hardware involved, ambients, cooling setup,...
QX9770 batch # L803b248
posted before i was done with the info s-spec ;SLAWM
PACK DATE 03-20-08
retail box $40 bucks more for 3 yr warrenty that's a no-brainer for the bucks it cost !
intel spec sheet reports it's a C1 (smiles all around) I love NewEgg
here's the link

no cooler (like i wanted one L O L)
what do ya think ??
Same batch I tested Slappy... did 3.6Ghz at 1.2volts , 4ghz at 1.31Vcore... sensors all worked fine here... I seem to be experiencing a burn in period with the Qx CPU's here... I did one straight out the box to 4ghz... at 1.35 it held steady, though degraded to 1.39volts... sold it, did the other QX first at stock a week, then a week 3.6Ghz... now I'm lowering the volts from 1.16 at 3.6ghz to 1.13, 4ghz OCCT stable (1 hour) is still around 1.25-1.26...
Qx9770 I didn't have much time but started at 3ghz one nite, then 3.6ghz needed at first 1.23volts, a few days later only 1.2volts to be OCCT stable, while it crashed before within a minute or two...
Anyone else experiencing this ? wednesday I should have 2 E8400 to mess with will do them both the slow way...
still haven't got my Qx9770 up & running yet as i'm waiting for a open test rack from Petra's to test the mobo/cpu/memory/hhd's before taking all stock cooling off & water cool the bugger ! I want to be able to RMA the board before tearing of the copper if the mobo is DOA ! Gonna use a intel CPU fan that came with my Q6600 for the testing .will report back on what i get
Don't go to hard on her out of the box, try to find eg lowest Vcore for 3.6ghz don't push her to 4Ghz as the QX9770 pumps out pretty much heat so your cooling system must be able to handle it...
How you making out Slappy?
I'm putting my joy together this weekend & was wondering if there were any results yet?
I am definatly taking the advise of a break in period - for the ammout laid out to do this...lol.
Here's what I got - QX9770 - Batch# L803B328 - C1 :), P5E3 Pemium w/wi-fi, 4 x 1g CellShock 1866 (Blue Kits), Noctua NH-C12P cpu cooler, 3 x 150g WD Raptor (Raid 0), 1 - 500g W/D - OS & Raid 1 (This i'm not sure will work, but going to try it first - If not, Just Raid 0 on the Raptors), 2 - Sapphire (Dual slot) HD3870s running CrosefireX, Coolermaster Real Power Pro 1000W & my trusty Thermaltake Armor case w/ 21cm side fan, 2 - 120mm (Front drive bay & rear exhaust), 2 - 92mm Noctua NF-B9 (bottom in & top exhaust).
Now the nerve has to come in to put it together...lol I do not plan on any OC or cooler mods until I test everything out of the box.
It my first build in 15 years & I fell like a kid in a candy store.
Thanks for everyones help in these forums as it brought me up to date rather quickly.
I will keep you posted or asking for a lot of help ... lol
Its all put together, up & running BIOS 0402. Flashed the mb first thing.
It took longer to update windows than it took to put it together...lol
Keep you posted when I get up & run some tests on her.
still working it together should have it up next weekend buildt a test bed for the thing before it gose into the case as i'm water cooling the whole thing but am testing the MoBo /cpu 1st on the test bed before rippin' all the stock coolin of the MoBo I want to find now if anything is amiss as in DOA's & such before the water goes on keep me posted on how yer's is running
going with a DD-tdx block on the test bed I don't trust the stock Intel cooler with a $1500 cpu
PM me
here's a build i'm doing on the cooler
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=185867
Will post some more batches later on... MAte tested 4 QX9770's and one QX9650... keep ya thread updated
Yeah i'm going all EK for the nb/sb & mosfits & a Vtec v2 CPU block -- 2 loops--, I have a 3870x2 O/C with a DD block but am selling both (still in their boxes )as the new ati cards are out soon & I'm going with that 4870X2 = x2maybe in cross fire = H-2-0 cooled also . all this on a Rampage Formula X48 MoBo
got my test bed done today it's water CPU cooled also with a DDC.3 pump with a GTX360 rad ,EK150res, DD tdx cpu block, with enuff room for testing the dual Iwaki & dual GTX480 crawl space cooler on the back deck of the test bed , I'll do the tube runs on the test bed before modding up a case . i gonna use the same memory as u do as it's great stuff ,got it in my P5E going with WD 640gb dual platters for drives in raid 0
This is what I've worked up to so far (Taking it easy - of course :) ).
All this is stable (to me) on air.
CPU - 9*440 = 3.96@1.3825 v (mobo - bios 0402)
Ram - 8,8,8,16@1760 v-auto
Temps - Asus PC Probe - tcase : idle - 28-30, load 52-55
- mobo : idle - 29-30, load 38-39
Realtemp 2.6 - TJmax - idle - 55-60, load - 37-41
GPU - 2 - Saphire HD3870 in Crossfire running at 845@1236. CCC temps idle - top & bottom - 35-38, load top - 60-63 & bottom 55-58. 3DMark06 - 19924
All other settings are at auto position for now. I'm more consintrating on getting over 4 w/2000 ram stable. Then I will play with timings & voltages.
Sorry for no screen shots, but I don not know how to take them.
For testing & monitoring I used Prime95 for 6 hours, Everest Ultimate, ASUS Pc Probe, Realtemp 2.6, CPUz & 3DMark06.
I hope that helps. Will keep you posted when I get a little closer.
Here are the tested batches (all OEM cpu's) :
Qx9650 L739A640 4ghz@1.27Vcore OCCT stable
QX9770 L803B248 4ghz@1.28Vcore OCCT stable
Qx9770 L803B246 4Ghz@1.35Vcore OCCT stable
Tested by Nilos on Gigabyte P35DS4, watercooled... Vcore read out in CPU-Z
You can only see the batch number at the chip right? Its not on the box right?
