it depends on your motherboard and instal disk version i didnt have a problem with 4GB, if u start with less memory and add more in then it wont use the full 35-50%for supper fetch so i would make sure that u had it all installed
I installed Vista 64 without problem, with 4GB installed.
No issues with 4GB, extra drives, etc, etc, but I tell ya what...
At local stores, they tell users this. They says they must install cpu on boards and flash bios, or vista will not install.
:lol2:
Too bad they make poor liars.
MY vista disk came from first set, had it since Vista release. NO issues on install with any hardware installed, even hardware it said might cause issues.(SB X-FI, various vidcards).
cool, thanks guys. I have my Vista home Premium64 coming tomorrow, so my fingers are crossed that i wont have any issues
Hogwash.
No problem installing with 4GB here.
No problem for me, either, and this was one of the earlier Vista Ultimate x64 DVDs.
It's not hogwash, as this problem did once exist - see here for the MS support page. I ran into it when installing Vista on my friends new gaming system.
On modern boards you should have no problems, however.
Not 4GB Ram related but I just got my Vista Home Premium OEM DVD 2day and have not had issue one Installing Vista and quite pleased about it actually:) But on the 4gb RAM Install situation I recall quite a few issues in forums related to that but also a number of months ago and I think it was Bios issues:shrug: ...Perhaps but not sure.
i installed with 8gb ... no problem
On some motherboards, you may have initial boot problems especially if you're running 2x2gb sticks. Many boards default their memory voltage at 1.8v or less which tends to not let boards like my Striker Extreme get to bios. I ended up putting a single 2gb stick in the third slot and it worked. In bios, I immediately upped the voltage and everything is great now.
no problems or what not.
Installed Vista this morning with all 8GB installed operating @ DDR1135! Not a single issue so far................Keeping fingers crossed. It seems that this modded Maximus Formula to Rampage Formula works pretty good.
It's still an issue with the P7N Diamond from what I've seen. May be resolved in later BIOS revisions.
