codename "Smackover"
notice just under the last pci 1x slot "eat at Joes, order the smackover special"
looks like someone got ahold of a validaion board for the next followon to Bone Trail:p:
server board?
hooooooooooot :)
lol skull sketch on the PCB and all heheh
Are those memory chips under the cpu socket?
Someone yanked the heatsink off... :)
whats the spec of bloomfield again?
the 3 dimm slots all coloured the same has me confused...
i remember some nehalem platform having tri-channel RAM..
Interesting layout though being pre production it could end up looking like most boards in use now
That looks really nice =0
Wow! That's pretty cool how they are doing the layout. I like variety in mobo layouts. Seems like we've had our current layouts for years and year now. Interesting to see the NB (or is it East Bridge now :-p) where it is and the memory slots where they are too.
yes on the 3 channel memory
layout is different, because now rather then having to minimize the trace length between northbridge and memory, you minimize cpu to memory traces. frees up lots of room for vrm stuff.
Some double, some triple, according to Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nehalem...rchitecture%29
"Also, three models of Bloomfield are expected to be released, with prices expected to be more than $266 at launch. Its corresponding Tylersburg chipset supports dual channel and triple channel RAM, and a maximum of 24 GB RAM. Tylersburg will also support Quad CrossFireX."
:)
OK, so that board made me smile. How the hell did Intel do that?
SLI license?
*runs away* :wasntme:
Useless.
Me wanna see some real nice Nehalem board.
It is a Nehalem board, Nehalem is called Gainstown in dp servers, and Bloomfield in desktop.
argghhhh!!!11
quad-mounting holes for the chipset heatsink
and the CPU-socket retension mechanism can be unscrewed and completely removed
/creams pants
must... mod....
Love all the memory traces going out of the socket. Not too smart having the PWM "below" the socket as heat rises. I liked having the PWM on the edge of the board with LGA775. I liked the LGA775 setup more than this but the PCIe/PCI setup is more important. Please bury that PCI slot and put a 3rd PCIe slot in there. Would love to see x16, x1, x16, x1, x16, x1. Enough spacing for big pots for CrossFire and 2-slot coolers for Tri-Fire.
Is there still a NB needed? Why not just a SB like on AMD K8 platforms?
Why only 6 slots? Seems like the VRM stuff is consuming way too much real-estate.
I'm liking the sounds of running tri-channel 3x2GB of DDR3! Will the on-die MCH run 1T? :D
It's funny but the Nahelem stuff is like a trip back in time to K8 days.
Hey, didn't you all notice??
They screwed up..
Forgot one of the cpu sockets!:D
